Hi, I'm Pete! (gamer tag PeteWil)
I first got introduced to the game through the Culdcept manga by TokyoPop. I could tell that the manga was about a game, but I couldn't even begin to guess what kind of a game it was. The world in the manga was a bit confusing without understanding the game, so I thought that I'd try to play the game before reading any more.
About a year later (last August), I got to see a Culdcept demo at Penny Acrade Expo. I played through one demo game (Santanna village, perhaps?), and thought "hmm, this is interesting."
A bit later, the 360 demo came out, and I found that I liked it. I din't expect to buy it, though, because I knew that Lost Odyssey was coming, and I'm primarily a RPG player. (I bought the XBox 360 because I wanted to play Lost Odyssesy)
So, it gets to be February, and Lost Odyssey still isn't out, so I bought Culdcept to entertain me while I was waiting. Eventually, Lost Odyssey came out. However, after a few weeks, I find Culdcept more compelling than Lost Odyssey, and now I spend more time on it than the game I bought the XBox for.
I'm not very far into the game yet (In the mountains fighting Faustina's old mentor), but I still love it. (It's hard to spend much time playing with two small kids at home.)
I've been reading the board since February, and I've really enjoyed the forum. I especially apreciated the articles by TopCat. Thanks, TopCat! Unfortunately, having only about 200 cards, most of the strategies I see are hard to use (I still haven't seen RedCap, a Kelpie, or lots of the cards that I keep reading about), and it is hard to make a parasitic deck with this few cards. Still, many of the suggestions are very helpful, and I especially appreciated the description of how symbols work (the help file didn't do much for me).
By the way, I went back and read the manga, and it makes a lot more sense now. Now if only volume 6 would come out to finsh the series...
That's enough about me, I look forward to meeting more of you!
I don't have a lot of time for online matches, so I will probably see you more often in the forum than online.
