I agree fully. I am new to Culdcept, and use the Magic/Monopoly reference when telling my friends they should play the game. I realized the difference early on, and altered my strategy to compensate. Because of that, I beat my friend who had the Sea Dragon guy that stops you on his land (I forget the name, its a blue guy). Anyway, he was on a Lvl 5 Water territory, but I still won (barely) due to differences between Culdcept and Magic.
I also like seeing the opponents hand, makes it more of a game of preperation and strategy than guesswork.

Also chiming in on the 'I see your cards' debate -
I think the card flash is perfect, you might see things you need to worry about, decide if Rust and other cards are worthwhile, etc. Meanwhile its not like you can review their hand at will, and keeping somewhat up to date on all of your opponents hands is part of the challenge.
It helps you take part in the rock-paper-scissors play, but more strategically and not entirely blind, which is part of this games enjoyment. You dont know what they picked but you know what they picked from, and act accordingly. There's a point to whittling them down, sapping their cards and/or magic, you'll limit their offense and defense capabilities, their choices.
Honestly if it's blind IMO it's less strategy. They're still getting new cards, the rolls and cards are random (or whatever level pre-determined, randomly pre-determined being the point), I think the play with that *for this game* makes it very interesting. It might not work as well with a pure Magic the Gathering game, but Culdcept isn't a game heavy on instant counters.

Spell increases Magical Power efficiently. Acquired territories only with creatures. In one turn, a spell and a territory command (or setting a creature) can be used 1 time respectively. A ratio of a book is to place a creatures in territories efficiently and to uses spells in necessary time. Digression: Kuroi Kenshi has made reference by the Culdcept Forum and Culdcept is a money acquisition competition game like. Monopoly is not required there. It is important to just raise the efficiency of money. Capitalism is realized because production is changed into money and wealth spreads. The principle of Culdcept is one word "Magic increases" (entropy increases). Note that it is close to Buffett's principle rather than the principle of a market also by the same economic principle.
