u–Ø‹ô‰ñ‚µv(deku-mawashi;dummy cepter macthing) is the best way to get many cards instantly, and it has carried out since SEGASATURN version for the Japanese cepters.

I introduce to this method for SAGA version.

There are three steps in this method.

Preparing:
You must get a new Xbox360 gamertag for dummy(for example, OTONASHI Kotori), and buy an extra Xbox360 controller.

1st step: Collect many cards to complete for main cepter.

What shall you do in the 1st step is;

1)Sign in two players(maintag and dummytag) and choose "Offline-match mode".

2)Set up a rule as follows.
Rule:Customized(uƒJƒXƒ^ƒ€Ý’èv)
The number of cards on your book(uƒJ[ƒh–‡”v) :30-60
The condition of the land(u“y’n‘®«v) :just check"ALL Morphing land"

3)Choose a map for matching.
"Upstairs to the Goddesses and Gods world" (u_X‚̐¢ŠE‚Ö‚ÌŠK’iv) is the best,
"The house in the hermit at the Mt, Etmail" (uƒGƒcƒƒ‹ŽR‚̉BŽÒ‚̊فv) is better,
"Santana Village"(uƒTƒ“ƒ^ƒi‘ºv) is ok.

4)Set up a detail rule for making a game as follows.

An operating procedure is the same as that you carried out at Step 1.

One thing I don't understand though.... why give the dummy tag ceptor cards in step 2? I understand capturing them in step 3 but I don't get why I give him cards in step 2.

I assume that the Donor must not save and the winner must save instructions allow for us to "duplicate" the most sought after cards in another ceptors deck, only to steal or win them back.

I apologize but I am having trouble understanding what must be done here. I was originally very confused but now I think I got it. Please tell me if I do. ;D

1. Create a 3v1 alliance with a dummy gamertag and a virtual ceptre. Run Coliseum II and III repeatedly with low limits to gain a large library (which is practically automated).
((I wish I would have started off like this instead of going vs. a dumb AI for hours on end. ))

2. Once a decent library is amassed between yourself and the dummy use a "no save" card exchange to further increase your libraries. The only cards that can be exchanged are ones you do not have yet (and I assume ones that the trader has more than one of).

3. Play against the dummy with card capture on to gain even more cards. Doesnt card capture pull from the opponents whole catalog and not just their current deck?

Well... thats my interpretation and questions. I appreciate any help.

You pretty much have it. Once you fire the dummy cepter up you will trade to him all of the cards that he doesn't yet own. The purpose of this is so that you can steal them later so that you can more precisely get multiple copies of cards you want. In essence, think of this not as trading but as "duplication".

The dummy, being the receiver, saves after this trading is complete. You, being the donor and wishing to duplicate your cards, do NOT save. Now construct a book for the dummy cepter and include all of the cards you want to steal from him. You will steal 4 each time you win a match. Now, you wish to duplicate his cards, so you save your main cepter but NOT the dummy cepter (he will thus keep the cards you stole from him).

If you earn a new card you want to duplicate, trade it to the dummy and then exit to the title screen after saving appropriately(card duplication). Now include it in his book.

If the dummy earns a card you do not yet have, have him trade it to you before you start the next match. Then exit to the title screen after saving appropriately. Start a new match and then trade the card back to him and save appropriately again (card duplication). Add it to his book and commence playing.

Thanks a lot for explaining. I still think I am missing a key step... exiting to title screen at a critical point? Has the duplication method been confirmed on the US version of Saga?

In between my 3v1 (Me, dummy, and virtual vs. created AI) card farming I tried to trade cards between dummy and me. He gave me four cards, it prompted to save, I saved me and not him. I then checked his deck and those four cards are gone. I would like to keep cards traded in between matches in order to take advantage of the '3+ wins in a row = new card" mechanic.

I'm missing something here. Here's what I have done so far: I have a dummy gamertag, but it's not an xbox live gamertag. Is that correct?

When I sign my xbox live account as well as the dummytag in, I start up a vs. match with custom rules set up as described in this thread. However, when I set the game to give capture cards upon winning, it won't let me add players to the game, either as virtual cepters or otherwise. What am I doing wrong here?

When I change the custom rules so that there are no capture cards, then I CAN add other players, but they are all virtual cepters. I was under the impression that I needed another culdcept file for the second controller. Or do I just use dummy cepters for all of the other 3 players?

As you can see, I am massively confused here. I am normally far more competent than this, but the combination of a lot of the instructions / videos being in Japanese as well as the unwieldy menu system of Culdcept itself have caused me to completely fail at this.

I do understand the concept of trading cards, with one another, never saving the donor and always saving the receiver, but I can't even get to that point in my current state of confusion

The dummy cepter is a free xbox live silver account. You will need to select new game with that profile and create a cepter. Once you do that you are able to select the guy you created in VS. This will also allow capture cards between the two of you. However, capture cards will not work with an AI or virtual cepter.

Ahhhh, I see. This clears up some of the confusion. I will try this out over the weekend and return if I have more questions. Thanks for the clarification.

EDIT: Man you guys weren't kidding. I had to start over with the card-getting process tonight (long story), and I already have 141 unique cards (with multiples of many of them, of course) after only playing a few games using this method. Very cool. I hope to have most of the cards by the end of the week.

After saving the recipient/not saving the donor during card duplication... make sure to exit to the title screen instead of moving on to the next match.

I think it might be best to do a separate topic for the US version, since the strategy is different, once you can set the limit down to 1000. The strategy is also different if you have 3 or 4 controllers. In a 3 vs 1 game with a 1000 win limit, you can hit that within a single turn, so you want to load up your decks with Word of Recall being your card of choice, and Holy Word 8/Haste/Backward/etc. being your back-ups to get back to the castle as quickly as possible.

Here's how I've been doing 1v1 vs a dummy cepter:

1000g limit, 10 rounds, card capture 4, all lands set to PURPLE.

build a 30-card deck of single-element cheap creatures (easy instant chains!) and money-making spells. Depending on the map and how easy it is to get back to the castle, you can have 1000g at be back there within 4 turns. I've been playing on the first map w/ a 15-card prize (just beat it in the story) - the one with a cross in the middle and a big plus sign around it.

i still really haven't figured out the AI / virtual cepter stuff, and I have few enough cards right now that I'm usually saving the dummy cepter's post-match results, because he wins cards I want more of. Are the AI allies really necessary?

Making a dummy cepter (an actual new cepter on a different profile) allows you to "win" cards from him that you want more copies of. For instance, if you want 4 Kelpies, but only have 2, you can "trade" them to the dummy cepter then win them back in a game, which gives you extra copies. I think that's what this is about, anyway. You can also have him trade you any new cards or any duplicates you would like that he won during the match.
