I got rocked by TopCat's "Free Money" deck the other day (I don't know what he actually calls it). It was interesting, because I didn't play poorly, and he didn't exploit any significant weaknesses in my deck; He just made a ridiculous amount of money in a short period of time, by getting a huge Green chain, leveling up a land, and then selling it off with that red broom-sweeping creature. I don't think I paid a single high toll to him the entire game, and we might have had one or two battles, tops.
The only way I could have really slowed him down was by carrying 4 drain magics (which most decks do) or using spells to reduce land level or freeze land levels (which most decks don't usually include).

Yeah ... I like using that skirted cat looking green card to sell lands. Forget its name. The other day I was able to clear out a high level land, used "backwards" card, got lucky rolled a 1, then I used HW1 and blam lvl 5 territory mine. next turn convert. 2262.
Insta win mega comback for me.

Heh. Five-chain in under one lap and victory in around 20 rounds. It's the fastest book I've ever seen played.

You know, I think no one reads any of the things TC or I have posted in the last year. I'm almost positive there are our earlier prototype versions of this book on the forum, but I have to run to work now. Apologies, or I'd find it and link here. Check the book listings, hope that helps!

As for people not reading things, I was completely absent from this forum most of 2 years, 2005-2007, during which I was completely done with the PS2 version, and had other games to play while waiting for SAGA. So no, I definitely didn't read anything posted in the last year, unless it was posted after SAGA came out in the US. Anyway, thanks for linking!

There's nothing wrong with that. Just figured you might find something interesting in a lot of the older posts. Especially since many simple questions being asked a million times on other forums are easily found here.
Looking back at that book it is so very simplistic and I'd like to think it is much more complex at this point. Maybe an updated list is in order soon.

Yeah at least one difference I noticed between the posted decks and the deck TopCat used against me was Grilmakin, a character he used as a pretty safe dumping ground, to get his funds out of Drain Magic's reach, and their untargetability makes them a little safer than Rock Shell, and the support ability makes it easier to defend in battle with a low-item-% deck.
And I don't remember if he included Blynx, but it's definitely a card I would include in this deck, for the same reason as grimalkin, but with the added bonus of being able to move to any vacant green land.

I played against a version of this deck the other night. Fortunately for me I was playing with my 'McCartney' deck that features Ebony, Ivory and Marble Idols. The person using this deck was never able to use the Tokebi TA.

@ Chemicalvision
Do you use Clay Idol as well?

Clay idol is not a bad idea, but I do not have it in the deck. I keep multiple copies of the idols in case they get destroyed.
