I want to target some cards I'm missing.. spells like Telekinesis I never got, Paralyze only 1..
also want to target those 'all cards of a color' goals/medals..
any suggestions as to where to fight in story mode, vs, and/or who to fight - is there a definitive write-up somewhere or is it really random/too hard to nail down?
there seems to be some rhyme/reason - ie I'm guessing I should go after the alchemist for neutral cards/the other piece of the alpha gear I'm missing? more in story mode, that map versus, more him..? I got the impression story mode w/him might yield the best chances..
finally is there any plusses to going through story mode again (better chances) or just stick with your unlocks?
thanks for any thoughts CKaz
ps- for whatever reason last 3 or so fights fell bing bang boom.. almost miss the taunts of losing which happened more frequent for me earlier in the game..
cheers

I had this problem when I was completing the set, too. It seems somewhat random to me, but I also think that your assessment seems correct: fight opponents who use what you need. I did notice, as I went through story mode, that I seemed to get more creatures early in the game and more items later in the game, though that could just have been me. (I went through almost all of the game without a Claymore, and I think I finished it without a Nuclear Fusion.) The last card I needed to complete the set was Land Protection, a bloody N rarity. Since I remembered having seen Mullyn cast it, I fought several versus battles against her at the Heavenly Altar, reasoning that, since that map had a high card reward, I'd be more likely to get Land Protection that way. After three or four battles like this, I still hadn't gotten it. Frustrated, I fought Mullyn at Dunnan. Either our first or second battle there, I gained a Land Protection. (And, of course, the very next battle we fought, I got another one! Grrr!.) Anyway, I don't know if I helped you or not. Hope so.

heh it does seem to help changing venues now and then, and I hear you *big* time that it does seem once you break the seal you can get more easier.. several times now I've hunted for a card for a long time, and once I get it I might get one or two more in the next few games..!

I don't know which cards you're missing, but, in line with what seems to be the case--i.e., who you fight has something to do with what you get--I fought Leo in story mode over and over to gain cards, since he plays Water/Wind and those were the creatures I lacked. I think I finished those two elements fighting him. It wasn't until after I'd fought him repeatedly (and gained the 100 victory medal in the process) that I switched to fighting Mullyn in versus mode.
Oh, and, possible further confirmation for the congruence theory: I don't think I got a Trident until I started fighting Mullyn, and I'm about certain that she uses a few of them.
Incidentally, for Telekinesis, I believe I've seen Leo and Balberit use it. And doesn't Luthien use Paralyze/Binding Mist?

A lot of people tend to go with Luthien for the status effects- but after taking her on and getting nothing but Anti-Elements, I actually found that the gold mine of status effects can be obtained by Gemmory!
