Hey there, FAQ creators! While on GameFAQs this morning, I noticed an advertisement I hadn't seen before. This one was for cheats.gamespot.com/ , so I checked it out. I pulled up their Culdcept page, and lo and behold, there were the GameFAQs FAQs posted there! I don't know if there's some sort of "agreement" or "ownership" that GameFAQs can pass along to GameSpot, but I wanted to make certain that you FAQ creators knew where your information was being published and/or hosted. If you want to see that Culdcept FAQ page, you'll find it here: - cheats.gamespot.com/cheats.html?pid=918917#faqs

Each site is owned by C-Net. This is illegal with out FAQ writers consent. The only legal way of the FAQ being posted on Gamespot is with your approval. The TOS on Game FAQs clearly indicates the FAQs are your property. By posting the FAQ else where (without prior approval), this is a breach of there own contract, no matter how affiliated the two sites are.
CJayC, might have a few kinks to work out with this news coming to light.

Hmm...I was using the FAQs on GameSpot years before i even stumbled on GameFaqs, and it was from a FAQ that listed where the writer's FAQ could be posted. Only then did i discover GameFaqs is the original source. If its illegal, then its been going on for years, surely at least one of the thousands of FAQ writers would've noticed and complained. But nothing has ever been done to remove those at GameSpot, so i'm assuming its legal.

Maybe so, but since I just stumbled across it this morning, I wanted to make certain that everyone knew...

I am not going ape-crazy, but this sort of thing really upsets me.

This doesn't really bother me, especially since from the sound of it, it wouldn't matter if it DID bother me. It's irritating, but if people want to go to an aesthetically uglier, harder to navigate, and more load-time intensive source than GameFAQs to learn what Lilith does, that's fine. As long as they're not charging for it. (they're not, are they? :P)
