On Christmas Day, I ordered the Stingray five-DVD set, and I'm still working though that. It's really awesome to see those puppets in a "pristine", restored format, when I used to watch them all the time on television back when I was a kid.
One day here soon, I the Season One set of Star Trek: Voyager DVD's should be getting sent off to me.
Excellent topic, BTW!!

For TheTampa Cepter: I liked House of the Dead, but it is not for everyone. It has a certain cheese facter - but it was kind of funny at times with the way some of the scenes were carried out. Especially when the group is fighting off zombies with their arsenal of weopons and it cuts from a FPS video game shot of zombies being blown to bits, to attempted Matrix style fighting action. It has standard T & A, gore, and some unique kills for the old school horror freak - and the plot is a little loose. But like I said - to me it was a fun movie ala Sleepaway Camp.

Jason vs Freddy is great - they really did a fine job. You should also listen to the commentary that's included on the DVD. It has Robert Englund, the guy who plays Jason, and the directer giving some pretty interesting information about the fim and a whole bunch of history of some of the things that they came up against while trying to get the movie made. Robert England is the fantastic on commentary and is the best of the bunch.

Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 are decent movies in the Evil Dead 2 vein. I see no way House of the Dead could even compare to Sleepaway Camp sequels (the first one sucked). House of the Dead had a lot more money, guns and gore. How did they go wrong. If they could of got a decent director and writer the movie could of been fantastic. So much potential lost here.
This review is coming from someone who holds movies like Evil Dead 2, From Dusk til Dawn, Event Horizon, Dead Alive & gory movies like that in very high esteem.

Most recent DVDs acquired: Lost in Translation, Identity, A Mighty Wind, Matchstick Men. I'm happy with all of them, but pleasantly surprised by Identity. I got it cheap on a whim having never seen it and I LOVED this movie. If you're into murder mystery type films, check it out.

I received the Voyager Season One set recently. Luckily for me, since I work for a Star Trek magazine, I don't have to pay for such items when they are sent to me as samples...
Today, I'm planning on picking up the Futurama Volume 3 set (it was released to U.S. retail yesterday).
I'm interested in A Mighty Wind too, Butch. Let me know what you think about it after you get a chance to watch it, OK?

Latest for me:
Mash season 5 (already got 1-4) Stargate Season 1 (just starting this collection) Shanghi Knights Stargate Ultimate edition (movie, has theatrical and directors cut) Lethal Weapon 4 Behind enemy lines
In case you are wondering about the seasons stuff, I don't like 95% of what's on TV now days so I pick what I want to see and get it on DVD. I'm just waiting until they release McGyver on DVD.

A Mighty Wind is done in the same spirit (and with much of the same cast) as the films This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. A Mighty Wind is a mock documentry about a present day reunion concert featuring folk musicians from the sixties. Very entertaing movies for me, but definitely not for everyone....
