In another thread- AceLeader and I were discussing the awful luck of getting an Old Willow on the first draw-the 2x Land Requirement and slow development of the trap make it a pretty terrible card to draw on the first hand. Last night I played a random battle- me and Ahdla vs. Whirlwind and Gemmory and my opening hand was the worst imaginable- I tend to be stubborn enough to stick in the game with a bad start- I rarely reset, but last night I had to. I was using my "Four Queens" Deck which utilizes all four colors with each color having a different strategy- It's one of my best decks, good creatures, good protection and moves pretty fast- but my opening hand was a Claymore, Gargoyle, Triumph, Evil Blast and Counter Amulet. I rolled onto a Green Land- Adhla put down a Sorceror on Red, Whirlwind put down a gremlin on a yellow and Gemmory rolled onto the same green land I occupied and put down a dwarf. I drew a Fire Giant and landed on a shrine that destroyed my Counter Amulet- the other three went and Ahdla and Whirlwind both placed another creature. I cast Triumph on myself to avoid discarding and drew my other Counter Amulet. Then Gemmory cast Despair- so for another two rounds, I drew no cards. Finally I did draw and got Manna- great, used it. Next Draw? Gasesous Form. Fantastic. Then Telekinesis, another Manna, Soltis, Lance of Odin and Paralyze. I couldnt take it and reset the damn thing.
