It's gotta be haunt. I can't stand that card. Part of it is the suspense, you don't know if the computer is going to screw up your carefully laid plans, or if it is going to actually play your hand intelligently. All the other annoying cards (changeling, etc.) pale in comparison. Sorry, I should say I can't stand haunt when it's played on me, when it's played on other people it's perfectly acceptable

Haunt against an IA is pretty much useless I guess... (unless there's a special feature which screws the way of playing of this computer-controlled player).
Quite surprisingly the cards I hate the most when played against me are the Goblin Amulet and The Hand... I really HATE when someone touches my item !

While annoyong to have your items stolen. I would agree that Haunt is by far the worse card to have played on you. I've read other places on this forum that the AI has no foresight in this game. With Haunt it seems the AI does. It always comes up spaces before I am about to be able to use a territory spell to set my chain of combos into action. I end up having to circle the board again losing 100's in potential magic points.

For my two cents, I have to agree with Haunt as the most annoying. Because of that particular card, I had to attempt the Luthien/Ryvern tagteam 12 times before getting through it. And it seems that the "controller" of the Haunted character and the CPU's characters act in collusion.
For example, on one of the attempts at the Temple of the Medium, with 8200 G, I had an Iron Idol in play (only 4-6 will be rolled), in the home stretch with the Castle 4 away, with a level 3 Cleric right in front, 3 squares away. (I do save the replays on the really satisfying, and the really screwed up, games). So it looks like one turn more to victory. Not so.
After I become Haunted, the Cleric goes to level 5, then I am controlled to cast Holy Word 3 on myself to hit the Cleric, then controlled to Holy Word 0 myself to stay there another round for another expensive visit to the Cleric. After that, I could not catch up to even try to win.
The only thing that comes close (at least for me) is Battering Ram. Considering I can not seem to get one, and I have about 1500 cards at the moment, so it may be different when using one rather than having one used. But to have my opponent use a Battering Ram with an attacking Cornfolk on my paralyzed, Greed-enchanced, Level 5 Old Willow, that is really annoying!

That damn gild challice/ cup that converts your attack damage into coins, and The Hand.
Cheap ass bastrdz !
Also highly annoying is computer using a GREMLIN while weilding a Vorpal and I can do nothing to stop it... PMTFO.
At least in Magic, I could FOG or BLINDING MIST lol.

If you regularly have a problem dealing with Gremlins then you should consider including items and creatures that have a 'nullify capture destroy effect' ability. A good example of this is Vestment (+30 HP).

Vestment and Kris are ideal gremlin-hunting weapons, but don't forget that Sage is the best Gremlin-hunting creature. The sage is able to prevent any item he uses from being broken or stolen. My Gremlin-lovin' roommate learned this the hard way a month ago (he used to love Decoys until I started bring Sorcerers to the table

Haunt for me. It seems that every time I get "Haunted" the comp graciously decides to discard all my carefully preserved item cards, leaving my lands open to invasion. But Changling can really suck also, especially if you play against someone who has four in their deck!

Another difficult spell to stomach getting cast on me is Life Force. I mean, I used to despise Selena for casting Silence on me early on until I learned that any curse can be replaced by another curse. So I started taking Holy Words, Haste, and Barrier with me to Malthessburg and Silence didn't bother me anymore. Not so with Life Force since you can't cast any spells that might remove it. You can't really do anything to help yourself except wait it out or aim for shrines and hope for the best.
Many times when I'm Haunted, the computer will always cast a personal curse on itself whenever possible in order to break the curse. That may be what happened to nycmange; he was Haunted twice in a row and the computer did what it thought was helpful but certainly wasn't. Has anyone else seen their Haunted selves try to bail themselves out with a Holy Word or a Slow?

My problem is that I don't play with a lot of spells that induce status ailments on cepters, so when I get Haunted, I get screwed. I occasionally play with Misletoe and Barrier, very rarely a Haste or a Holy Word, but I always play with Torture- anytime Haunt is casted on me the computer will ALWAYS cast a status changing ability on myself if I happen to have one. If I don't, it screws me every time. I've seen people post that Haunt actually made some good decisions for them-it's never done that for me- I remember the last time I was Haunted, I cast Senility on my own Ba'Al, rolled onto a Level 3 Land I could have easily taken with my Gladiator+Vorpal Sword and instead I played a Gremlin with a Gremlin Amulet, then on my next turn I swapped out my Mad Clown for the Gladiator on a Level 2 blue land. I HATE Haunt.
As for me, Haunt is definitely up there for one of the worst, I pretty much hate all of Cratos 3 with Ryvern and Gemmory taking turns casting Haunt, Changeling, Shatter, Ruin!!!! ( I hate that one too!), Paralyze, Despair, Pain and Parasite.
The other sorceress' Mullyn and Luthien's spells, while annoying aren't so bad- I don't mind overly when Mullyn casts Life Force on me since most of my decks are always balanced between spells and creatures and if played in the early stages, it can be a great benefit. Though I do hate the fact you can't take it off at all. Mullyns and Luthien's Anti-Element, Drought and Temperance are all standardly annoying but don't frustrate me anywhere like Cratos 3.
I think in all honesty, the worst spell is either Haunt, or when Gamygin casts Rust on me since he waits until I have 3 or 4 items- Naturally, the Talisman always seems to get rusted- god I love that card.
I've never liked The Hand nor Gremlin Amulets which is why the Sage and the Archbishop both rock supreme.
And Chingis, that is truly evil- thats why I ALWAYS play with a Suppression or 2 when going against a human.

Don't get me started on that Finals Map in the Cratos Tournament. I'm still stuck on that map. They always pick on me even if I'm in 2nd or 3rd place. I hate these free for all battles because the AI players ally against you when casting negative spells and picking on your creatures.
And, yes, I heartily agree that Haunt is a sucky sucky card to have played on you. It is probably the one that annoys me the most as well.
And it extra sucks as it's one of those "anti-player" type things these games have to give the AI an advantage (I've never noticed a difference with Haunt on an AI player). I hate stuff like that.

I agree Haunt is no fun, but backward can be really evil. You are ready to lap and then it just all falls apart. ::sigh:: Such is life.
