What can i say - its getting down to the nitty gritty. I've got 459 cards and i seem to be at a deadlock. I haven't seen a new card in a good seven matches, so i guess its just ticking me off a bit. I've been playing another created player that i've made, winning 13 cards per match (with the loser getting 6) and niether one of the players is getting anything useful (new). Any suggestions on a good way to complete a book (excluding "E" cards of coarse) - any help would be appreciated.

You have hit on one of my most recent frustrations, too. I'm still missing cards like Old Willow, Battle Gear Beta, Necro Scarab, Nuclear Fusion and Evil Blast, and there's no way to get them (other than by "cheating") aside from playing match after match after match......
Thankfully, I've only earned nine Medals thus far, so once I complete Story Mode, I'll still have plenty of "objectives" to complete in order to "finish" the title.

I have to agree that this is one of the most frustrating things about the game. I have nearly 1500 cards total, but I am still short 13 individual cards. Once I got over the 1000 card mark playing in story/vs battles, I tried 3v1 versus battles with created characters. They are somewhat time consuming, but just load up with Holy Word spells and you can force the one sap to land on the expensive territories. On a map with a large card reward and card capture set to 4 the payoff is worth it (yes, I know this strategy has been mentioned before). I find I get more unique cards when I replay matches in story mode, but I dont think there's really any "trick" to getting more cards per se. Oh well, more matches for me I guess.

I'll call this an anti-vent, but it is subject related. WHEWW - at long last, I've been finally able to collect all of the non-E cards. I still have to collect the cards that require 30 or more medals (there are 5 of those), but here's what I've got so far. I have 82:07 hours logged in battle. I have 1,894 total cards collected. Funniest of all - Thorn Fetter (a Normal card) was my 1,893rd card and last of the regulare cards that i collected. With Soltis being the last overall card. Now, to work on completing Story Mode - i have 2 or 3 battles left there (I think), and to finish Medal hunting (22 of those left).

dragonmak2: I would like to know how you made such excellent progress! Currently, I have about 90 hours logged in battle, but my total card count is less than 900. I would be interested to know how many battles you have fought during that time, and how many times you have won.
Basically, I would just like to know how you acquired so many cards in so little time!!

CommanderGarak, why don't you try to creating a new character, and have him go through story-mode again? It seems to me all you've been playing is a single character repeating story-mode battles before heading for the big one.
I completed story-mode some time ago w/o obtaining all the cards, so i played alot of versus matches against AI opponents, mostly on Dunnan in 3 vs 1 matches to make it quick. Still that only took me up to about 370+ unique cards, 850+ total, before new cards got hard to come by. So i started a new character and wow, in about 25+ matches (10 in actual story progression mode + some just playing Goligan and a few in versus to get medals), i obtained about 50 unique cards that my 1st character was missing. I simply traded them over, this also helped boost my 2nd character's deck, since you can trade every 1 for 4 cards.
Some ppl advocate creating 3 other characters and play 3 vs 1 games with them, then trade when you get new cards. I'm just too lazy to control all the characters on the board to do it this way, although it does maximize your chances of getting new cards.

Thanks AkinaSS! I, too, have played a few "3 vs. 1" matches with Card Capture turned on, but that just got really boring for me. You're right, in that I've just been replaying Story Mode maps with my same, original Cepter. I didn't think that simply creating a new one and playing through again would necessarily give me any new "wealth" of cards that I didn't have before.
But, of course, if the awarding of cards is "mostly" random, then the point you make here makes a tremendous amount of sense.
However, I'm still amazed at (and impressed by) the sheer number of total cards that dragonmak2 has been able to accumulate in such a relatively short period of battle time....
EDIT: What do you mean when you write, "you can trade every 1 for 4 cards"?

When i got a card that my 1st character didn't have w/ my 2nd character, i traded that card for every 4 from my 1st character to boost my 2nd character's deck.

I take it then from this thread that the best way to get new cards is to play vs. matches or create a second character and trade cards. Is this the case, or can you get as many (maybe not as quickly) just by replaying story maps? For example, I've been playing Morroc forever with my original Ceptor trying to get a Wonder Wall, and it never shows up in my card gain.

While some will argue playing against certain AI characers will give you a better chance of getting cards align w/ their element. My opinion is the cards you get are random, so playing against Morroc does not give you a better chance of getting neutral creatures. I don't know about story-mode though as my experience is based on vs-mode. I got all the cards (minus those from medals) about 2 weeks ago (i've got all 489 now), and creating more than one character is definitely the way to go to get new cards fast. The most i had was all 3 of my characters vs an AI. My favorite map is Mt Alta (not too big or small), and as for AI i rotated against just about all of them, Mullyn being a personal favorite cause she's an easy opponent and i don't know why but towards the end beating her kept giving me the cards i'm missing.

You know, I like to take my time with this game, learning it slowly. I have just over 1700 cards total, and I have just finished the part of the tournament. I purposely go slower because, quite frankly, I like the game. But you give yourself a better chance to not only get all the cards, but more of them. Even with all my cards, I only have 2 Ice Storms, one Evil Blast, and other cards I would love to have more of. I move slowly in the game, enjoying every battle I win, and the cards I get. Yet now I am getting maybe a new card every 5 or so battles, and obvioulsly that will increase as I win more, making it harder to get the last few.

I simply traded them over, this also helped boost my 2nd character's deck, since you can trade every 1 for 4 cards. Could you elaborate more on this? Where/When is this trade option given? Some very specific directions on how to trade cards between cepters would be GREATLY appreciated.

To trade, go into versus mode, load the 2 cepters that you want to trade cards, then the trade option will become available on both cepters menus.
Just to note, you can't trade cards that the other cepter already has, so if you're looking to get multiple copies of those good cards, it can't be done through trading.
Also, you can only trade one copy of any card, so it makes it that harder to get 4 copies of every card. :b

Ah! Done!
It's good enuf! Over the weekend I was able to gather together enuf cards thru trading to make a pretty kick-ass first strike book. Pretty rewarding experience.
Maybe I'll elaborate on it in a new thread.
