If you have progressed past the tournament, you might have noticed that fighting the old cane at Dunan has been replaced with Zenith; that puts a real curve on making some quick cards in a fight. Might I suggest visiting Selena at her castle? Selena at Mathesburg would likely become a good testing ground for any new decks you want to try, or to get some more cards, or even shoot for some medals. But to beat Selena you need to know what she likes...
Selena's cards will be a little tougher than when you first met her. Still, I have found that her tactics are easy to defend. However, keep in mind my suggestions are based on the cards I have, and the number of them. The beauty of Culdcept is that 500 people can play and have 500 different combinations. Still, here is what you can expect from Selena:
It is always Christmas with Selena; that means she will try to place creatures on Red and Green, which ever she can get to. Her Reds include Cait Siths, Minotaurs, Valkyries and Pyro Drakes. Greens will include Dwarfs, Grymalkins, Odradeks, Woodfolks, Mages and Nymphs. If she can get these on the right colors, she will then start to level them up.
If you have Ice Storms, load up on that. They do 20 pts of damage on all red creatures. You really need at least 2 to make this work, and preferably in succession. I would wait until Selena placed about 3 or so on the board and started leveling them up. Watch out for Caith Sith, strong creatures will have a problem with those.
For greens, be careful. Selena has a lot of supporting cards. In addition, she also carries 4 of those Petrify Stones, which changes the creature to a 80 hp creature, very hard to beat in battle. I keep Magic bolts, Evil Blasts and Binding Mist (paralyze) to keep them in check.
Selena will place creatures on blue and yellow, but she is just as likely to pass on it as well. If she has neutral characters like Ninja and Fighter, she may place them anywhere. Don't waste your time attacking red creatures on green turf, or green creatures on red turf; Selena won't level up on them until she can switch to the right color. Selena very rarely levels up on yellow or blue and also rarely moves a creature to attack, but it can happen.
I kept a pretty defensive approach with Selena, keeping a focus on defensives and using cards to either prevent her from placing cards, or throwing cards away. A Rust card would really hurt her, but I never used one.
Also keep this in mind, Selena is quite mindful of effects on her creatures. If you paralyze her creature, and it is worth some money, she will try to use Fog or another spell to take off the effect, but it also helps you as well because it cuts down on the cost should you land on it. I always tried to keep some Reflect Amulets on me, and some Prismatic Wands. Oh, if you are going to use Ice Storm, I suggest removing your reds...or they will get hurt as well.
There are a million ways to play this I know, but this is just one, and if you can get an idea of how to beat Selena, you will have found an easy target to practice your new decks, get more cards, get medals and just have fun. Oh, to love Selena.............
