Really Awesome Battles!

Ok, we all love the game but not for nothing, some of the enjoyment factor seems to be leaving for me since I've been playing it for a good amount of time. I have all the medals, at least 8 of every card (excluding the E's), I've used the strangest decks imaginable- I've played the vs. mode in nearly every possible combination- so I realized about a week ago, I still love the game, but it was getting just a smidge less exciting than it used to be.

Then I had 2 hours to kill last night- I've been replaying the store mode for the kajillionth time and had just defeated Cratos 3. I yawned my way through Alchemists Lab and Kazatega and saw that I had time to start Quanze. I wasn't really that interested in the battle, but I figured why not. I chose Leo as my partner since he has an easier time vying with Mullyn for blue lands then pitting Selena against Gamygin.

It was by far the best battle I've had to date.

Everyone loves when they get lucky, you start with a great hand, land on matching colors, hit the towers and the castle, and the enemy obliges by having a rotten hand, and then they lovingly land on your tolls.

This game was close to two hours of the most grueling, vicious battle I've ever seen. I saved the replay- here are some highlights:

1- Leo was Rusted 4 times
2- Mullyn was the victim of "Torture" three times, each time she had 3-5 spell cards in her hand, and the first time it happened, she was magic depleted.
3- At the battle's conclusion I invaded 36 times, Gamygin 32, Leo 28 and Mullyn 18
4- I had 8 Ba'Al's on the field.
5- Gamygin got out an old willow and actually got him up to Level 4, Leo, the spaz, paid the toll twice, everytime I went through, I gave it my all but Gamygin would keep getting those damned Red Shields rights as I passed by.
6- Said Old Willow was then the object of telekinises, brigning him to to my Ba'Al, standing next to my Decoy with 2 Reinforce's casted. Didn't have a chance.
7- 6 different times, someone had the necessary 9000G to win the game, but the other side would launch a full assault before the other team member could reach the castle.
8- My Knight took out Mullyn's Level 5 Hydra, then was creamed by Mullyn's Megaradon, who was taken out with Leo's Lilith, who was killed by Mullyn's Grendel, who was killed by my Ba'Al, who was replaced with MY Lilith who was killed by Gamygin's Dragon. The Dragon was Senilitied and killed by my Decoy on a move ability, then the Decoy was evil blasted. I used a Conjurer to place another Ba'Al there and thats where it stayed.
9- Six of My Ba'Als had 30MHP from Mullyn's Temperence
10- One of my Decoys was a 40 90- that little monster couldn't be killed.
11- I lost a total of 34 cards from fighting with Ba'Al- not including summoning costs.
12- Mullyn, normally the most docile of opponents got so caught up in the blood rage battle that she started to attack my level 2 and 3 red and yellow territories with monsters who didn't stand a chance, even with me stocked with items.
13- 6 Lands were brought from a 4 or 5 to a 1 with Meteor- Gamygin casted Subsidenence on my lands 3 times
14. Taking a tally of monsters killed in battle, blasted, bolted and senilitied, a total of 93 creatures died.
15- My book was reshuffled three times, everyone else had 2 reshuffles.


What a glorious battle. Anyone else have a great battle they wish to share?

I've had a couple battles where amazing things happened:

The first time I played in Kazatega, both Ryvern and Whirlwind were at 10kG, and I was at 4kG, and I managed to manuver around the board and take 2 level 5 lands with my Nightmare/Night Fiend. I won that battle.

Several times, in verses with my friend as an ally, the opponent has been 1 space away form the castle with winning G, and either me of my friend rolls exactly what we need to take their largest land, and manage to come back for the win.

When I earned my last metal, Mechanical Duke, I had 5 Bundlegears down, despite only have 1 Battle Gear Beta, thanks to prophecy, teleport (to land on the prophet), and lightcraft. The goal was set to 8000 too, so I only lapped 3 times I think.

I managed to get down 13 Old Willows when playing for the 3v1, 10 of which were on fire spaces. Once again, Lightcraft was a contributing factor.

I'd say my most memorable battles to date were oddly enough both paired with Leo - one where he actually LED us to victory (so far the only time an AI has not only dragged me down, but won the day!) vs Balberiet and Ryvern (story @promsdale there), and the last time when I didn't have the best pairing for playing a rematch vs - you guessed it, Gamign and Mullyn. That seems to be a fun time..

The last one ranks possibly as my best - as you said it can get crazy. I went with my 'Deluge' deck [all blue!] and chose Leo - right after I chose I thought to myself 'oops no red, Selena would have been a better choice with this deck..' but off it went..

I don't have the play by plays (partially because I had NO idea what would ensue) but it was unreal. The swings were huge - at points it was all us, all them, all us.. and in the end, I've NEVER had a closer game where a single card would have swung it the other way..

I had my sea bonzes in force, and between leo and I (mostly I) we ruled the sea. However Gamign had Red locked up and Leo would always go that way... :b

So I'd fire spells and do what I can but Leo paid the majority of the time. However he put dents in the chains and between a blast or two of mine and getting Gamign down in $ Leo nailed the old willow

Leo and I combined in the center around the castle vs mullyn and gam in a bloodfest, there was a lot of fighting there. Mullyn temperanced the heck out of us, gamign blasted, we always had weakened creatures. We got rusted, I rusted them, I'd go down the red avenue to help but yup, he'd pick up that red shield and we'd land on his big spots.. that was a big swing to them. I had all these nicely leveled Bonze's but nobody was landing there - Gamign stayed to the red side.. Mullyn did too for the most part :b when she came through blue usually nothing big.

However Gamign spends the dough and doing some things to tank his cash had a few rounds of Leo and I undercutting Gamign's empire big time - we took him to task. Now we had a big swing...

Mullyn took the opportunity to do a little blue damage tho and Gamign rebuilt a bit as I went back to blue side and Leo donated a bit more.. :b

Gamign made very good use of blackhole backing us off the castle.. slows were used, some speeds were used..

it came down to we started flashing for the win, then they the same round! we did not have incredible seesaws there but the end was nuts- it was a race to the end

leo and I were in the lead.. it came down to I was final stretch and leo was so I thought OK we got it - but a recent reshuffle (it was a long game maybe it was the third reshuffle) had me wondering if warps/slows or their own speedups would have us lose!

I got within shot of the castle.. they go they go...
Leo.. coming..! Can't believe we didn't clinch it with my roll.. I roll low - 2 away...! They line up more spells.. hope hope no stoppers/warpers/speedups.. they're coming around.. Leo's in the final stretch! Hoping we don't lose any G worth to keep it up (bad fight) as we're low 9Ks but I'm doing stuff to raise it a little as I can. They do the same, they're mid 9s!

I roll.. a 1!! 1 away!! They're in the final area now too and more cards.. yikes! LEO ROLLS TO WITHIN 1!! WTH lol..
New cards.. had they a speed up they would have won or something to mess with cash value... Both of them are in the final area now too..!

I hit the castle (can't roll less than a 1 thankfully lol) -
Win * 9896 to 9871 * by about 4-5 spaces!
And ** I got my first Telekinses ** !

Most enjoyable battle to date, best reward to date =)

Right after that vs Morroc 10K after a couple cards on his home turf and using an all Rare for the medal try-

Got WonderWall (still needed)
Got Vodyanoi (still needed)
Medal - Rare cards
Medal - Repeated victory (story chars 50 times)
[obviously vs can be used here at least to some degree]

So not nearly as clutch as the top one but very productive!

I haven't played nearly as long as WhoseYerLilith but I can relate to playing too much of a good thing, and trying to wrap stuff up can be tough. But there's something to be said for playing with the AI as it really adds some crazyness and some clutch play. I also have yet to take a dip into the taking on 2 or 3 at once..

I'm also wondering how viable it might be to create other decks, make an AI based on it, and play allied vs other comp AI teams..

Anyways I finally got another toy for myself (La Puccelle, for some reason I had a brain fart as I thought I was getting the sequel where I meant to get Phantom Brave next, but I'm going to give this a go) so I'll make sure I don't get card burnout. But I still can't believe how much I've gotten out of this $12 used game, I really hope we get Culdcept in some other form, or something very much like it, down the road once again..!

Anyhoo finding and reading my post here reminds me how much fun it was and how in deep I was, I think I might have to get back to this game with the ps2 while I wait for Saga =D

total side note its been so long I have disgaea2 now (la puccelle and phantom brave never quite were the disgaeas, and I think I like the original disgaea the best out of the four) - disgaea would have been hands down the game I played the most on the ps2, if it wasn't for culdcept - and yeah at $12 used! ... amazing how some slip under the cracks!
