Don't know where you guys are in the game, but this was a pretty interesting one for me. If you haven't got here yet, you might not want to read further, it might spoil some fun for ya.
When I played in this match, I went in with a bunch of yellows I relied heavily on, that being my Paladin, Knight, and a few others. But I noticed that Whirlwind loves those colors too. Ryvern likes the green. One trick I learned was to find out what a player is heavy in, and to play the card that damages the color. When I play Selena, I keep at least 2 Ice Storms, since she likes red, so I can wipe out most of her creatures in 2 turns with Ice Storm. Here, against Whirlwind, I had to find the equivalent of that against yellow...enter Death Cloud.
I unfortunately had to dump all my yellows, that was hard to do, but I needed to clear them out to allow me to freely play Death Cloud. If it works, I could wait until the mid or late in the game and let them have it. I added a few other spells to do damage to the creatures. I kept a few spells to paralyze any high-dollar creatures until I can get to the and take it over. I also kept more defense on me than offense. My Leoknight was my ace in the hole, especially late in the game. Nobody's taking that card out, especially if I add a Prismatic Wand to it. I lost the first game because I didn't make those kinda changes, the second was just dumb luck; I had over 10,000, but Ryvern had 9000 and was able to get to the castle before me. The third time was the charm, and I won, although it was a great battle. Any other guys did anything different?
