I have decided I might go for all 50 medals now (was just going to stop at 45 before...), but the final one is going to be SOOOOO tedious to get, because I need about 45 more wins over the CPU for Victor Among Victors. Anyway, I was thinking the easiest way to do this would be in story mode vs. Goligan in Dunnan (with the starter deck).
But I believe the only way to play him would be to restart story mode, and I wanted to find out exactly what happens when you restart in story mode before I actually do it. For example:
-Does the world map reset (all locations inaccessible again)? -If it resets, is there any way to later revert to the old completed version? (Besides beating all of story mode again) -Do I still keep all the maps unlocked in Versus mode? -Do opponents in each location reset to the way you first fought them? (Will I be able to fight wimpy Goligan again?) -Any other details you can provide about what happens if you restart story mode.
Also, if you've got any other ideas on what the best way to get the fastest possible victories over the CPU is, please let me know.
Thank you very much for any assistance!

Thump, Go ahead and reset the Story mode. All access to maps, books, cards, and other characters are stored on your Memory Card that holds your main character.
So, if you restart to Story mode, you ONLY have access to Dunnan to start while in Story mode. I am on my 3rd trip around in Story mode. Going through the 2nd time was far easier since I wasn't hoping for such lucky rolls to avoid my enemy. Now I can rule the roost with confidence, knowing that I have 95% of the cards in the complete book.
But you have full access to everything else in Versus mode.
Have you noticed in Versus mode that someone can simply 'Participate'? This means that you can have to newly created character fighters begin, but an expericenced fighter can watch an permit access to maps that newer characters wouldn't normally have.
Hope this helps.

Thanks MmmLilith for the info! I'm still debating whether to do this or if there is a faster/easier matchup in versus mode (posted over in the Victor Among Victors thread in Medal Hunting).

Its probably better to just go ahead and restart- I dreaded it as well, but actually found it to be a lot of fun to replay the story (and to whip the first 6 or 7 opponents with such an advanced killer deck against their novice ones)

Another option would be to design a deck around hosing some particular color, then play on Dunnan in Versus Mode (I hear that 1-on-1 matches in Versus Mode against Story Mode characters count for the medal) against someone who only plays that particular color: Whirlwind (yellow), Mullyn (blue), Gamigyn (red), Gemmory (green). Mullyn's a popular choice, though I find Whirlwind casts fewer annoying spells on me.
So find a color that you have three copies of the "20 damage to all this-color creatures" spell for (or at least two and some direct damage spells or archers), and go abuse the computer player who plays that color.
Personally, I find that a blue/yellow deck with a bunch of Rusts and Shatters is pretty effective against Selena at Malthessburg in Story Mode. You can stock some red/green color hosers too, if you like.
