Here is something I want to throw out to you guys; tell me what you think. I have played Culdcept for about 2 months, and in that length of time I have probably played about 150-200 games ( I could check and get the number). Currently in the game I just finished the episode at the Colleseum and won the Odin Lance, a great weapon, which is a step above the Claymore. I wanted to get some practice, so I went back to the first board, thinking I'd get to beat up on old cane for some more cards. However, I was met by Zeneth, who proceded to pound me into liquid not once, but 3 times in a row. His cards are not that intimidating, and my cards just got me through the tournament, with a few minor changes. However, I really get the impression that the computer was "peeking" at my hand, and "augmenting my rolls" Here we call it "sweet jelly rolls" when the AI gets nice moves (you know; you got 5 of 6 lands in a row in command, and the AI skirts over them to the only safe one in the area). I have played many games where there were far too many "sweet jelly rolls" for the AI, and sometimes the second they raise the price on a land, I land directly on it. It's almost like the computer created the situation for me to fail, and made me go for it. How many times have you sat there with a 500+ enemy land in front of you, and you say, "I better not get a 1", and sure enough, you do. Is it possible the AI might be "fixing" the game?

The Fight against Zeneth does seem to be rigged! I went back to fight the walking stick guy and got the rude surprise of Zeneth. He was able to get a land to level five by his second lap, and I landed on that territory every SINGLE lap. It really makes you think the game is cheating.

I have beaten zeneth twice, once by 5000 which won me a medal, but he's been far to tough since then. I understand that if you beat him 3 times, you will get a new one-time opponent, previously unseen. -RRS

Doh! - What was I thinking?!
Of course Najaran!
I have already posted a book that is downright RIGHTEOUS against her.

Yeah its a pretty solid deck with a good strategy- though my decks against Najaran are more targeted to her overuse of items and excessive combat patterns.

Yeah I just played zenith with THREE different books, and he smoked me all 3 times.
He has EXACTLY the cards he needs when he is somewhere, OR he lands on a free zone, OR he attacks me every fn' time and has the upper hand.
Fuk it... I'm thowing in all the destruction spells and draining magics I can to shaft him.
What blows about this game is they have multiples of cards that I have not a single one, OR just 1 of that when used a few times makes an impenatrable deck.
Bastard designers........

I suppose thats the problem...the programers forgot to balance the game out a bit. The only time I had a lot of lands under my control (ten spots all between lvs 2 and 5) and he would stop short and then get a three everytime placing him on the ONE spot I didn't have and apperantly could never get. He never landed once on any of those lands I had, I eventually won though. After he would accept the taxes on my 2 or 3 Lv 1 lands and running around like a mad man.
This game certainly has everything it needs going for it, which is probably why I've never gotten to far in without cheating. I hate some of the 2 or 3 hour long battles only to find out I lose by a couple of points.

Zeneth doesn't land on my spaces: * Holy Word # * Quicksand * Slow
Zeneth kills my monsters when he lands on them, so doesn't pay tolls: * Silence * Rust (get rid of his items) * Shatter (get rid of his items) * Simulacrum * Gaseous Form * Holy Grail * colored Shields * Counter Amulet * Necro Scarab (saves the space for at least one turn)
Zeneth has too many annoying spells: * Ruin * Suppression * Mesmerize * Shatter
Zeneth has tough monsters because of his items: * Binding Mist (paralyze) * Dullness * Wing (+20 ST and First Strike) * Senility * Nike (paralyze) * Hyde (paralyze) * Huge Spider (paralyze) * Sea Bonze (Defense, but items don't work) * Gremlin (destroys items) * Counter Amulet
Zeneth keeps using Magic Bolt and Evil Blast: * Cait Sith (or other untargetable monsters) * Odradek (immune to damage spells) * Any creature with at least 40 HP. * Land Protection * Phantasm * Mass Phantasm * Growth Body (+10 HP) * Mutation (+20 HP)
Zeneth holds onto annoying cards: * Shatter * Ruin * Rust * Bookworm (blue creature, very vulnerable, very useful) * Remora (blue creature with no blue land req to cast) * Bell Of Law (I think that's the right one)
Despair is fun too.

Nykkel if your offering some sort of deck to stop Zeneth those won't quite work, if he did any ONE of those per match it wouldn't be a problem but since he uses all those techiques at once it's difficult to make a deck that can cope with everything he does.

I was simply naming cards that would help with whatever people find the most frustrating about Zeneth. Stock 2 or 3 Rusts and 3-4 Shatters, along with high HP and ST items (or invulnerability items) and he's less of a hassle. Watch out for playing too many critters of ST 30 or less.

Problem is 50 card limit..... If I could have 60, I'd smoke him then again....... chances are he would have 60 also LOL. When I played Magic, I ALWAYS played with a 6- 15 card larger deck than standard regulation. My biggest limitation, is that I have only NONE , 1 or 2 of the cards aforementioned, yet have 80 % of te entire catalog. Saddly I have all the JUNK in high number quantity LOL.

I got so frustrated fighting Zeneth that I went back to Selena's place to get some revenge...found out after the tournament, all the characters decks change a bit. She started beating me until I was able to figure out her deck. I ventured to the Temple to get some experience, and played a three way. One one turn, I had just passed my LionHeart (AWSOME CARD!) and upped the toll to over 800. The next turn Luthien gets a paralyze spell, and uses it on my LionHeart. Then the gets the exact number to land right on my land, and takes it out with a weak creature! I was so frustrated I felt like turning off the game. I know the computer is not getting even with me personally, but it looks that way sometimes. But one thing I learned early in the game, when I was practicing with the old cane, the game shifts more than once. I saw that when I play, if I can just get through the computer peeking stuff, I can still win. Now I'm not gonna lie to you guys; I HAVE turned off the PS2 when the crap got too high, but when I can get through it, usually I get so good rolls too. It's like another guy said here; we don't argue too much when the computer lands on our high-dollar lots; it can go both ways. I just have a hard time believing it sometimes. I tell you, the computer's got a BRAIN!

I have almost beat the entire game with one deck.
However I'm not saying it never changed. All I did was Upgrade- like chain mail to plate mail, holy grail to gaseous form so on.
I love gaseous form I use 4. I also Use two Kelpies and an old willow. I usually start off badly in a match, but I can Alwayse tell when the willow came up due to the huge raise in the little red line on the screen that shows that I won with 10000 G to CP's 1000+ G.
Yeah, use Kelpie and old willow, place them strategically, and watch the CPU's unload their money on your horse-fish as you laugh sadistically.
I have a 100% complete catalog except for the cards you get foe medals. I went fron a 20% catalog to 100% in about four days of fairly long hours. The best way to get lots of cards is to do the following.
Go into a versus match and load your Cepter, then create three new Cepters. Choose one to be The cannon fodder (no really my cannon fodder Cepter, was actually named cannon, and his book was fodder.) Make teams so that you are allyed with the two others and the cannon fodder is alone. Now go to a large map with a big reward, like 13 or 14 cards, and play with the lowest G needed for winning and set the card capture to 4. Now play. (Keep in mind these "dummy Cepters" ARE NOT AI.) Now since you have controll of all four, you and your teammates summon everything they possibly can and the cannon fodder Cepter NEVER PLAYS A CARD (unless it is a holy word to make himself land on your Lv.5 land) Also, the fodder will never fight you just pay tolls. (Also, good to set sudden death to on.) Basically make this match the eisiest you can imagine. Now, once you are done beating the fodder Cepter, you gain 13 or 14 cards and so do all your teammates, and the looser gets some cards too. Then you steal 4 cards from the looser, (this is where you can start to duplicate cards. For instince: I have 3 dark matsers because I got one randomly, the second I stole from fodder, and since you and your teammates get the card [he only had one but it gave one to everyone since the cards stollen are the same for your teammates as well] then I traded one of my teammate's Dark masters to fodder, then ended up winning it again) Now comes the trading. Have all three "dimmy Cepters" GIVE you any cards that you don't have. Really dosn't take too long. Plus you get cool cinematics for completing the elements, then for completing the catalog where you get "Soltis" Which I have no Idea what it does. It just sais "Choose and regain one of the seven elements"
*shrug*
