I'm having some difficulty obtaining the Wings of Swiftness medal (win before round 20). I was told that you can win it in a 3 on 1 team match against Goligan in VS. mode, but all attempts have failed, even though I did, indeed, win before round 20. Is it possible to obtain the award in this manner? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on how I would otherwise do it?
Thanks!

Welcome, Moptop! According to the Medals FAQ posted on GameFAQs, the Wings of Swiftness medal has the following help comments attached to it: "Victory before getting to round 20 excluding sudden death. Easiest way is a 3 on 1 team battle, with victory conditions set low." So, if you're not trying to win this medal in a Sudden Death match, then attempting it in Versus Mode should work (according to the FAQ). By the way, if you want to view that FAQ, I can't link directly to it. However, you can get to it by clicking on the link below (the Culdcept Game Information page), then click on the "FAQs & Guides" link toward the top of the page, followed by selecting Lord Blade's "Medal FAQ". - www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/data/918917.html

Yeah, I consulted both the FAQs and the message board at GameFAQs before posting here, and tried that tactic, but to no avail. I, personally, think this has to be done in a one on one match. I have beaten the computer several times before 20 rounds in 3 on 1 and 2 on 1 battles, but I still have yet to recieve the medal.

I wonder if you have to play against Story Mode characters in Versus mode to win this medal, or at least play against AI characters. When you won such matches, were they against human Cepters, or against AI ones?

Yep, I was always teamed up with one or two story characters, and we were always facing off against Goligan.
I always played on Dunnan, and the goal was always set to 5000 (the lowest). Perhaps I'll try it with the goal set to 6000 (the default setting) and see if it works. I'll let you guys know.

Who said you could get the medal in a 3 on 1 battle? I'd heard this only once, I forgot from where, so I tried the "3000 in symbols on a map with no temple" medal, achieved the goal with a teammate, and didn't get the medal. I don't think you can get medals with teammates, story or not. Edit: Well obviously aside from the Proof of Friendship medal..
The way I did it (wings of swiftness, that is) involved a deck focused on getting the old willow/kelpy lock as quickly as possible. Had to replay a few times until I got lucky enough to get Old Willow down on the 2nd lap. Obviously on dunnan at 5000... probably vs. Mullyn, little foggy there. She's usually a very simple opponent.

Who said you could get the medal in a 3 on 1 battle? That was printed in Lord Blade's FAQ, ExMortis.

If I'm not wrong, I think the medal requires to play 3 vs. 1 with 3 story mode characters in the same alliance, and you, ALONE. And it HAS to be done in versus mode cuz there's no story mode match where there're 3 story characters pit against you.

There is a medal where you have to win a 1 on 3 battle in versus mode, but Wings of Swiftness has to be a 1 on 1 battle and won in under 20 rounds.

NecroCepter wrote the following in another thread: oops, tacked this on to the wrong thread. Would a mod be so kind as to move it to the Wings of Swiftness thread? I was having a tough time obtaining this medal because even though I have over 1000 cards total, I do not have a Kelpie or an Old Willow. To solve the problem, I restarted story mode and played Goligan at Dunnan. I made a book that was 50% creatures and 50% spells. All of the creatures had decent defense, with Wall of Ice being my primary money-earner. The spells were focused on me getting lap bonuses (holy word X, flight, haste) and forcing Goligan onto my lands (holy word 0, 1, 2, 3, quicksand). I played creatures only when I didn't have a chance to use a territory command and level up a land. Goligan can only muster a strength of 60 at best (Zombie plus mace or spear), so it worked out. Just an idea for those of you who can't put together a killer Kelpie deck.

I actually got this one without using Kelpie. I played against Goligan in Story mode (I actually had to restart my story mode because I had already beat it and Zeneth was sitting in Dunnan). Story mode Goligan is actually easier than Vs. mode Goligan (whether using practice deck or tricky deck) because his deck is different (and weaker) from the Vs. mode decks.
I played multiple gnomes and boggarts and when he finally hit one early (it took several tries) I won the Avaricious Smile (for taking over 3k in tolls) and Wings of Swiftness medals.
Oh yeah, I loaded my deck up with manna generating spells (manna, triumph, soltis) and Holy Word X.

For this medal I used mostly lapping (2 Holy Word X, 4 Holy Word 6, 2 Haste, 2 Fly(Use this after one turn of using Haste to really move) and Manna Spells (4 mana, 2 Triumph, 2 Magic Fountain, 2 Feast)
I had very few items, a couple protection items and 3 golden gooses Creatures were Walls, Support Creatures, and Cornfolk.
I won in under 20 turns 3 straight games on Dunnan vs Mullyn.
Drop Creatures wherever you can(Throw something down even if it doesn't match colors(hopefully you can golden goose it if it gets attacked) and level up a chain to get near 5000. With a little luck, you don't even need the computer to land on your high priced lands.

All of you can only think of the cards are flyer, haste, holy word x when you think of speed. But how many of you remember therer is a idol that will keep all players roll 4-6 is also very useful. That way not only you can go faster, but others too, so that your opponent will step on your high fees land more frequently. Also, word 0 is very useful to help you collect 1 more toll fees. PS:Let's compare who make this medal the fastest. I complete this medal with 13 rounds.
