Hi, I noticed a there hasn't been a lot of activity lately, but I wanted to share my final battle in the game. I was kinda afraid of playing this one because I heard how difficult it would be. I played it twice, turning it off before I finished because I knew it wasn't going right. But after I made some changes in the deck, I won on the first shot.
The key for me was that whatever I had, so would the Evil Spirit. The other guy, Balberiet (or however you spell it) had a strong, but vague deck. The previous two times I had problems when he started laying down his tougher creatures. And once he got on a roll, it went downhill for me, considering I wasn't only fighting him, I was also fighting the Evil Spirit.
But the key I thought about was a card I used in the past...Changling. That card can turn 2 random cards in to goblins. And since I had 4, I could load it on Balbereit. My plan was to thin out my deck of monsters, keeping a few, like 5 or so. I was playing off blue cards, with the only exception being Leoknight. I kept one or two Icebergs, a Giant Tortise, a Fungilnoid (?) and a Drool. I kept my Counter Amulets (4), some Water shields, , some mana cards, some Holy Word X cards and other singles like Drain Mana and the such. I also kept some Dispels, Silences and the such. The idea was to try to slow down Balberietous...or however you spell the name.
But by doing this, I also had a plan for the Evil Spirit. If my hand was limited by creatures, so was his. And if so, then it is possible that Balberanian would take an early advantage. That's fine, because I noticed that spells cast by the AI usually go to the leader. So, if Balbazarr had the lead, and I was hitting him with Changlings, it is likely that the Evil Spirit would do the same.
In the first round I hit Balphazar 4 times with the Changling, and the Evil Spirit hit him at least twice. That meant as many as 12 of his cards were turned to goblins, which is a SERIOUS blow to his deck. However, remember that the game picks 2 cards at random to change into goblins, which meant that it could have chosen a card already changed into a goblin card, thus negating the spell a bit. But I was willing to gamble on that, because for every goblin he was dealt, that mean one less powerful card he had.
I kept up with it in the 3rd deal, and I noticed that he had about 12 goblins. I was also careful to hit Evil Spirit too, since I was not confident in my strength to push anyone over. I also had some Magic Bolts and Evil Blasts to work on any creature I could. One of my other goals was not to have any creature under 40 points, because I didn't want any of my creatures knocked out in one shot.
I found myself in an uneasy, yet the same time a comfortable control. It was kinda neck and neck for awhile, but since I knew the Changlings were working, it was slowly moving the odds in my favor. Soon ol' Bazarratanioguanid would have a much weaker hand, and won't be able to place strong creatures out, or won't be able to successfully ward off any attacks. His deck was slowly turning to the goblin nation. I was also keeping my eye on the Evil Spirit, hitting him with a Changling every once and awhile. After all, he was doing the same to me.
I'll be honest, I was very nervous when I hit 10,000, because I had forgot that it went to 12,000. I was trying to make sure I played this as best I could, making sure I had protection cards in my hand, and hope for a speed card (Holy word X) or even a Fly so I can zip around the board. But in the end, I won, edging out Balloonbandit by about 4000, and beating the Evil spirit by about 5000.
I know there are many, many other ways to do it, but that is the beauty of this game. Hope others finished this great game too.
