I'd like to hear some stories of huge comebacks. Has anyone ever made a comeback after being pretty much "bankrupt" and sent back to the castle. My biggest comeback in a match was being down 5000g when the oppenent had 8500ish G with the goal being 9000g. I was desperate so I build up a lvl 4 land with a griffon on it and luckily he landed on it in his next turn and i shot out one of his high lvl chained lands to drop him under 8000g. With that mana, i build up my willow and gave him some vitality. Needless to say I ended up winning the match

Well, about 50 matches in I finally had a game worth saving the file for today, playing on the Quanze map with Leo as my partner in story mode. I was using my Scrollers deck which contains only creatures that can use scrolls and mostly spells.
After falling behind and the opponent heading to the castle with roughly 9500 vs our 6500 or so magic power. I finally had drawn a second Catastrophe due to Revival. With me just passing the castle I was able to cast it back to back and watch as the entire board cleared, except for a lone creature of mine that I had swapped out for Soul Hunter on the board after the first Catastrophe.
Which then brought the opponent down to about 1200 vs our 900.
Then it became a race to get back to all of the leveled territories first. Leo wasn't too much of help(especially when he cast Blackout on me??), but with my find card I was able to outrace the opponents for creatures and with Soul Hunter in hand there was hardly a creature that was too difficult to overcome as he was 300str at that point and only had to use him once in overtaking a territory.
In the end Leo and I obtained 9500 in about 10 more turns or so and headed back to the castle with the win.
It might not have been my biggest comeback to date, but it sure was the most gratifying.
I have found Soul Hunter to be my most favorite late game creature at this point.

You have to go bankrupt and make a comeback to earn one of the medals.

Shadow of the Pauper requires you to get magic depleted, which isn't the same as bankrupt. Additionally, you don't have to win to get the medal. JUST get depleted.

It was the match at the Temple of the Mount versus Ryvern and Luthien. That battle's pretty long, and at the time, I still hadn't fully mastered basic tactics in the game, and at the time, my deck wasn't really built for the wars of attrition that that game someones turns out to be.
It was pretty much Ryvern vs Luthien with little ol' me poking at their sides here and there.
I drew my favorite card, my Gladiator, and then in the very next turn, I drew my Prismatic Wand. I landed on Ryvern's level five territory, and did battle with a really powerful Water monster of his. I wasn't too sure of his hand, so I used my Prismatic Wand, and then I noticed that he used an armor.
Shit.
But I forgot about the Gladiator's crit-dealing skill, and I took out the monster, and put a serious dent in Ryvern's magic. About two turns later, practically the same thing happened with me against Luthien too.
After that, I drew a lot of Holy Word cards in a row, so I kept leveling up lands and forcing them to land on 'em. By the end, I had sent Ryvern back to the castle once, and Luthien TWICE. I don't remember the exact scores, but Ryvern and Luthien each had under five hundred magic points, and I had over eleven hundred when I won.

My best comeback, that I have saved as a replay, anyways... was probably against Pickett and Ryvern at Rabbid. Ryvern managed to top the point-cap 4 times, by anywhere from 500G - 1500G, with me sitting in last place at 1/4 his score.
Through a combination of amazingly well-timed holy-word zeros on Ryvern, before the castle, and complete flukes of me landing on level 3, 4, and 5 lands of his, I managed to even out the score... knock him down from the required amount of points 4 times... and then take the victory in a foot-race to the castle.
It was a long match, so I probably would have smashed my controller if I'd gotten that close and then lost. For a fairly slow-paced game, that last 20mins or so was ridiculously intense.

I have had many great comebacks, but they happen only when I put total confidence in my cards and what I can do (Gosh, am I starting to sound like Yu-gi-oh???).
What I mean by that is if you take the guesswork of your cards out (minding the luck of the roll and the draw), you can come back from a lot of very unbalanced games. I learned that early when I played Golgian repeatedly. When you do that, you know what he has, what he likes to do, and when he may do it. For example, if he attacks, I don't try to stop him. He attacks when he KNOWS he can win. I am 0% against him when he attacks me. But if I keep so much as one defense, like Plate Mail, he does not attack. I have played many games where he had a big lead, but I stuck to my plan, and eventually won.
This is the same with Selena, after the tournament. I know what she will do, and I know what cards I have to beat her. For example, I know she likes red cards, so I took all mine out and put in 2 Ice Storms. During the game, I let her level up, not even trying to fight her. I am waiting for her to get several red creatures out, while I am waiting to get my 2 Ice Storms together. Once I do, I can eliminate all her red creatures in 2 turns. Same with her greens. She likes support creatures, and I wait with my binding mist. She has once had me beat with 6000+ with me with about 1000+, and all she needed to do was get to the castle. But I was able to get to one of her green monsters, which was paralyzed, and was able to take over that 800+ land with little effort. Another time she had 3 lands at over 900 each, but they were all red. So when I got my 2 Ice Storms together...

I love reading about how other people play the game- my biggest come back was in a four for all vs. game: Me, Luthien, Adhla and Balberit. Thought it would be fun to have the three sages and I go for a royal rumble- the funny think to note that despite everyone having 3 enemies and no allies, the computer (Luthien in particular) completely dedicated itself to making my life miserable (as only Luthien can...you know what I mean: Haunt, Holy Word 1, Holy Word 0, Anti-Element).
Balberit was his usual charming self- attacking at every oppertunity ( I always laugh out loud when his description reads "mild"...is that sarcasm?) And even Adhla wasn't being subtle about taking over my one or two lands whenever he could by moving his creatures.
Still, the battle raged on- I weathered Balberit's Ba'Al's, Evil Blast's and Necro Scarabs, I stood firm against Luthiens "Damned Saint" deck of Zombies and Skeletons, I didn't balk against "Wise Man" with the ever fun Wereboar, Holy Grail and Angostura and at one point was pretty sure I was winning, bleah. Adhla was ahead at 9,800, Balberit taking second at 5,400 me and Luthien tied at around 4,000. The problem was the Luthien continuously landed on Ahdla's high level lands and simply paid the toll. And of course rather than try to take over some of his lands with her neverending spells, she just continuously kept casting them on me.
20 turns later and after suffering one magic depletion, I seemed to have formed and unspoken and profane alliance with Balberit, I strategically took over some high level lands and Balberit just went on a psycho killing spree then I saw that Adhla had reached the goal and was racing to the castle- he stopped on my Level 5 Boggart and then I saw that I too had the goal!!! It was a race! Luthien of course, cast Holy Word 10 on him (no, she really did) which brought him one space short of the castle. What was my next card? Blessed Joy! CHAOS PANIC!!! Turn that man-tit ass around Adhla and pay more homage to my Boggart if you will! I won- it rocked.
