Greetings, and thanks for stopping by the Culdscience Institute, where we spend night and day pushing the limits of Culdcept knowledge. For the most part, our research ends up in columns written by myself or ExMortis, although we may have other features in the future.
If you have a question or comment about a column, or spot an error (we certainly makes mistakes), feel free, but please keep it on-topic. We'll try to answer questions as they appear. Also, if you have an idea for a column, or something you'd like explained in painstaking detail (we don't do it any other way), this thread is the place to let us know. Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy your stay.

Most of my work is "behind the scenes," so the amount of column-writing I'll be doing remains to be seen. I will at some point cover the topic of Support since my colleague dumped it on me, er... relegated the duties.. uh.
I will do my utmost to uphold my title.

Any chance of getting a class on the various idols and how best to use and/or not use them?
BTW: Fantastic lessons so far - i look forward to more - and thank you for your dedication and willingness to share your info.

There will definitely be columns about idols, though I doubt there'll be one that covers all of them. Basalt Idol and Gold Idol are the ones I'm most inclined to write about first, but it probably won't happen until the 6th column at least, since the 4th one will be about symbols/land values and the 5th one will probably be about metagaming.

Hey guys! I think the format of these "classes are great. Keep up the good work. I have a suggestion for another. How about a "class" on penetration. I'm sure if I'm confused on how it works, so will others.
Specifically, I'm not exactly sure what creatures with "penetration" abilities target. Is it MHP, HP after boosted by items, or what? Even if you don't do a "class", a post in a forum would be greatly appreciated.

How about a "class" on penetration. Of course, I assume that you mean a class on damage penetration. Actually, this is an excellent suggestion. I've read where certain items can boost the base HP of creatures, which affect whether or not an opposing creature will be destroyed when damage penetration effects are applied. So, I would certainly like to get a much clearer idea of which items affect damage penetration, too.

I'm pretty sure Penetration just ignored HP boosts from land. So 45 points of Penetration damage (Say from a Freeze scroll) will always kill Old Willow, even on a level 5 red land, unless Old Willow uses a HP boost item.
[Edit : I just remembered I've seen Penetration ignore Vitality as well. So it probably just ignores the number of HP added on with a + sign. If you creature is has 40HP plus 80 in boosted HP from level 5 land, Flame Lord/etc, and Vitality, only the 40 points matter for Penetration]
The only thing I'm unsure of is how it works with things like Mujina, which has a printed 30 MHP, but actual HP of up to cards in your hand * 10. If I have 6 cards and my opponent hits Mujina for 30 points of Penetration damage, does Mujina die? I don't think so, but I'm not certain.

I'll be looking forward to hear from the wonderful "instuctors" of the Culdscience Instititue .
