OK. I've heard people say that Gladiator isn't such a great card, but I can't help but love it.
I'll explain a bit of the madness as to why. (I kinda suck at this, so don't expect to much)
OK, to start.
Gladiator (R) (RC)
ST:40 HP:40 G:70
Item Limit: xArmor xAccessory xScroll
Critical hit to Red, Blue, Green, Yellow creature.
Now, this seems like a nice attack card, could take some pretty decent lands. But it gets better..
Not only can it do 60 straight damage unassisted to any colored Monster, but if you use an Item card like "Masamune", "Aura Blade", "Battle Axe", "Claymore", and more the always popular "Lance of Odin" it could very well take out even the STRONGEST defense creature. (A theory I haven't tested yet)
Thats all well and good for attacking, but what about after he's on the land? What about defense?
This is where I admit he isn't his best, but there are some ways to keep him alive and kicking.
The spell card "Wing" For instance, allows Gladiator the "first attack" ability, which allows him to defend as well as he attacks.
The item "Sword of the Falcon" has much the same effect as "Wing", but only for that one battle.
Time to close up shop.
Gladiator is an awesome attack card, but it can serve quite nicely as a defender as well. So try not to write him off to quickly.
