Its cost, its text.. neat but not overwhelming..
basically noone gets to use abilities
(ie Grendel critical 20ST or less attack Sea Bonze 20/40, that critical won't happen here)
BUT....!
I think for the first time (otherwise I would have noticed that) fought a sea bonze and tossed a weapon on it (vs Mullyn/Gamigyn on their favorite map vs 2 of my chars).
THE WEAPON ST WAS NOT ADDED!
I had tossed a Kelpie against it (which says defense but isnt a defense creature) and was a bit shocked..
So then I did the Grendel above.
BOTH times the item (well weapon) were negated!
If Sea Bonze stops skills AND items.. WOW!
Now mind you I'll be checking this - I'm guessing it might also negate it's own defense. But think of this..
-levelled up land (+20,30,40,50..!) + its base HPs - breaking past that w/o using abilties *and* items? yikes!
-toss some growth on him for more fun
-obviously watch out for the reverse (enemies blasting for dmg, etc)
-curses may not have any effect! I saw mutation go on one, so it's at *60hp* and has poison. However the poison damage was never resolved during the fight..
I think I might have found my (next) favorite defensive card here (at least for blue) - wow!
This additional item negation (HUGE!) still is boggling me a bit.. maybe others knew about this.. now it's a DEFENSE card, so I didn't think much of it - it'd stop special ST power-up types but not much else (and gaseous form does that anyways). But to negate the special stuff from your enemy -and- its item usage.. with more hp than a gremlin (can survive an evil blast out the door).. nice!
Still trying to get a Vodayni (sp?) which kills the offense if on defense 80% time bonus attk - while first attacking.. nice! However it's beatable (another first attacker, caith sith ignores, etc). I think I'm going to try using the sea bonze's I have now. Still want that Vodayni tho heh.

edit - I should add I don't feel bad underrating it (and you shouldn't either) as nothing in the text suggest it ignores items either.. I'm going to have to try using scrolls against it next time/other combos, etc. And the weapons I used didnt rely on abilities/effects (critical/penetrate) - they were just simple +ST adds. crazy!
