Although it isn't what the card is used for, I sometimes use lightcraft if my opponent has a nesty hand. I doubt anyone will vote for it, but it's up there in place of the crappy Ramora.
As for most efficient, I like the Bookworm, but it's too week and often dies if I don't play it at the right time. It's pretty amazing when I get it out though.
Despite Bookworm being the best at removing nasty cards, I think I have to vote for Rust. I tend to always throw 2 into every deck I build, either to protect my creatures form attack or to make sure they have no defense.

Too tough to choose- I use them all with the exception of Squeeze frequently- and I just built a deck destruction deck that also incorporates Despair- it works pretty slow and seems to be better suited as an alliance deck rather than a stand alone.
Eh, after thinking about it some...Id say Rust is my favorite, closely followed by Supression.

Yeah, I was gonna include Despair, but it doesn't technically remove cards form the hand. It gives you card advantage, and I like the card, but i didn't think it fit the theme of the poll very well.

BELL OF LAW! Returns to hand!
use with Giant Spider or Nike, because after they're paralyzed, they won't hit back, and you're guaranteed to destroy the most expensive card in their hand (creature or otherwise) AND recycle back to the book.
i also enjoy popping a doubler with a Remora and a bell of law.

Personally I like Book Worm, and have used it a few times. The problem with it is because it is so weak, you really gotta keep your eyes on your protection cards with that one. But you can see the benefits of destroying a card each time you pass by or land on it. Imagine if you had 4 of them in your hand....

I'd go rust.. not in front of me but I believe no cards lost on your end, and can stop your opponent from defending or attacking you successfully for quite awhile, in an instant

These are some AWESOME ideas, many of which I have used, but I use something else too. A combination of three cards, starting with the brass idol. Now what I am sharing works for a guy like Zagol, so it might not work on others.
I use the brass idol, which allows 2 cards per turn. If you can protect that idol, then Despair or Silence helps get rid of cards from Zagol. I like it because it doubles what is thrown away. If you have a brass idol and hit Zagol with Despair, he has to throw away 2 cards per turn, or 4 cards total per use of the spell. If you hit him with Silence, he will eventually have to start discarding cards because as you know, his deck has no spells, and is heavy with creatures. If he can't lay a creature down, he will eventually have too many and have to discard.
No plan is without flaws, and mine is that the key is that brass idol, which is kinda weak. I usually keep some reflect amulets to help, but early in the game that is expensive (100). But it can work, with a good game plan.
