Gaseous Form (N) (I) Accessory G:70 ST=0. Neutralize attack (excludes scroll attack).
My favorite card isn't what I'm playin', it's what I dont HAVE to play.
Additionally, First Attack as a creature ability ROCKS. (I realize First Attack does NOTHING to enhance Gaseous Form, I don't mean for them to be taken as a combo or anything...)
I haven't gotten too far on Story Mode, (just finished with Pickett in Rabbid Village and Ahlda on his island, on my way back to Luthien the Prophet), but after playing against Luthien and all her DAMN gaseous forms the first time 'round, I took a page from her book (pun intended) and went madly about getting a few for my own book (previously, I didn't have any).
I've since acquired two Gaseous Forms and beaten Luthien, Pickett and Ahlda with much ease (also thanks to a strong First Attack deck).
It seems the opponent will rarely ever challenge you on a square you own so long as you have one or two Gaseous Forms in hand.
I know Gaseous Form is useless against scroll attacks, but I don't think anyone but Ahlda, so far, uses scroll items much. At any rate, the first attackers as well as the Gaseous Forms really seem to keep the attacking cepters opting to pay the toll instead.

I've noticed this anti-CPU plan too, Solis, though it came to me in more of a roundabout way. I was having some trouble beating Whirlwind (whom you fight later in story mode) and I realized that, since he only uses wind creatures, taking some Wind Shields with me should make me invulnerable to him. Well, I didn't get the joy of seeing any of his attacks get repulsed because he never attacked me, he would aways pay the toll as long as I had one shield on me at all times. Of course, this plan works against everybody, except for the extremely aggressive ones like Zagol or Balberit, if you use Gaseous Form.
First attack is also a great quality, since defenders are able to use weapons as defensive measures to kill the attacker before he can strike. However, keep in mind that when both creatures in a fight have first attack, then the attacker will once again get to go first. This can be countered if you use the item called the Hourglass, which guarentees that its user will hit first. This is only helpful to a defender since the attacker could use the Sword of the Falcon or Winged Boots and get the same result.
