I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this guy yet.
IMO, he is by far the toughest creature in the game. I base this on the fact that I can't recall any of mine ever getting killed. He's cheap, and his abilities rock. To have first strike AND to suck HP means he's a beast to kill, plus he can use all armor and weapons.
If I'm using green, he's in there.
I'm also pretty fond of the Werewolf, although he never really makes as much of an impact as I want him to. But it cracks me up to take somebody's kick-butt creature placed on a leveled up land, and turn it into a wolf with no territory bonus that can easily be killed.

Vampire is a good card and very cool looking. Plus, its pretty flavorful.
Edit: Despite its coolness, I tend not to play this card. I just prefer Gargoyle (fills a similar slot in a deck using green)- its more "solid" but less exciting. Kinda like vanilla pudding over chocolate.
Edit2: Are you sure he can use all armor and weapons? I thought he had armor restriction...

armadi - You are correct, sir. He can use Weapons, Scrolls, and Accessories. But no Armor,
Of coarse, when he's on offense - he doesn't reallly need the armor and with a 40ST (itemless) that would go to HP (effectively doubling it) make him pretty difficult to slay.

Ha, you're right! He can't use armor... I haven't really memorized the cards yet... as evidence by my other post where I call the 'Storm Causer' the 'Storm Seeker', which I think is a Magic card, actually.
It's true, though, that the guy really doesn't need armor. The closest thing he needs as an item for defense is that hour-glass thingy (heh, don't know the name) that will give you first strike and negate the attackers first strike. That way, attacking first strikers won't take you down.

I won a Vampire fairly early on and use him all the time. On a level 5 land, first strikers are the only thing that has a chance to take him down. Against a non-first strike creature, he bumps up to 130 HP(Even more if he has any bonuses that up his ST).

I will definitely agree that vampires are some tough buggers. Definitely a major pain to try to kill.
With werewolves though, I'm not so sure. I love the concept of transforming my opponents mega-monster into a little doggie as much as the next guy, but it only works 60% of the time. And only when the opponent doesn't kill your 30 MHP werewolf before he can attack. So yeah, I'd say werewolves are very cool in concept, but a little too unreliable for my taste.

Vampires are good, but when you start to play humans, you'll learn to use something else like a Gargoyle because of the land limit on the Vampire... Once you place down a Gargoyle, just relief it next to something you want to attack and you got a 50 / 50 1st atk monster... Also, it's just dang nice sometimes to have the choice to wear armor or not because if someone attacks you with a scroll, you can always use armor and have it kick in before they hit you with a 1st atk monster instead of hoping you end up with an hourglass which I think is pretty useless 90% of the time you draw it up... The chances are WAY too situational... And only really useful on DEFENSE... Where as armor can be used in offense and defense respectively...
I play an ALL 1st atk deck and have NO hourglass in my deck... One reflect card does TIMES more dmg than hourglass (because you generally can't use weapon once you use hourglass which is crap)
Critical hit is far too easy vs a Vampire too... Vorpal sword, Colored amulets, Scrolls, and a ton more creatures...
I would say the "vampire ring" however is more useful than the creature...
