I've been playing Culdcept for about a week and a half, ever since graduation in May - already hooked.
I just earned a Master's of Science in Business (e-Commerce) and have a BA in Anthropology with a couple of Minors and lots of Certs. Being both female and way, waaaay past puberty, I am far removed from the typical gamer-demographic realm, unless we count computer geekdom.
Nevertheless, I am normally found with controller in hand (PS2) off-hours. I enjoy rpg (Suikoden, Final Fantasy, etc.) and action-adventure (Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, ICO) games. Culdcept is outside my normal genre range but I am thoroughly enjoying it because it combines the best of strategy gaming with role-playing and cruel twists of fate.
I already completed all of Story mode except for the last stage (didn't figure out how to beat my own book the first time, so I'm collecting more cards first before I try it again). I only have a few of the medals collected that I won by accident, so your board posts are most helpful in this area.
I have 9 books built with various deck themes that I deconstruct from time-to-time and rebuild but usually play all four elements for insurance, with strong cards (T'ao T'ieh, Gargoyle, Chimera, Yeti, BA=AI, Dark Master, Centaur, Wall of Ice, Snake, Valkyrie, Vodyani, Pegasus, and the Healer, and a couple of non-elementals (Leo Knight, Sanctum Guard, and sometimes Decoy and/or Mad Hare). Defensive decks get the Nue for ST -10 to attackers, Wind is removed in favor of Earth and Hunbaba is added.
Favorite spells are recyclable Find and Telegnosis, along with Telekinesis, Peace and Evil Blast x2, Banishing Ray, Growth Body x2, Holy Word 0 x1, and Wild Growth x2. Variations on single card counts occur, but these spells are usually in my decks.
Favored item cards are Rainbow Piece, Plate Mail, Lance of Odin, Catapult, The Hand, Spike Shield, and Boomerang.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to learning with all of you. Well, back to the game!
