Here's a deck of mine that has had a LOT of success in 1 on 1 VS. matches. It's not too great for Story Mode, however, since there is no round limit during the battles. The deck features nothing but spells, and is built for mass-destruction. I named it Cataclysm.
Tempest x 2
Catastrophe x 2
Insect Swarm x 4
Plague x 2
Punisher x 2
Evil Blast x 3
Haste x 4
Holy Word X x 4
Holy Word 0 x 2
Mana x 4
Triumph x 2
Incineration x 2
Bind x 4
Blackout x 2
Waste x 2
Pain x 4
Drain Magic x 2
Earth Shaker x 2
Energy Flash x 1
Description:
The primary focus of the deck is creature destruction, as I stated above. Combos like Tempest/Catastrophe + Insect Swarm can kill a LOT of creatures, dropping your opponents net worth considerably. Earth Shaker + Energy Flash is just as deadly, sometimes even more so in the late game, since Energy Flash kills regardless of HP/MHP. The Binds, Holy Word 0's and Wastes keep your opponent from expanding TOO much when you're waiting for your key cards, but just enough for them to keep feeding you victims. The Pains, Mannas and Drain Magics help keep you in the lead, while the Hastes and Holy Word X's keep you getting lap bonuses. In the end, cast Incineration for a LOAD of G and cackle maniacally.
Tips:
Don't be too eager to push the big red button. You want to destroy as many creatures as possible, and maximize the potential of your big spells. There's no point on wasting a Tempest or a Catastrophe on 3 creatures. I usually wait until my opponent has 5 or so. And never cast Tempest/Catastrophe unless you have the Insect Swarms to finish the job. There's nothing worse than having your opponent pass the castle, only to have all of his creatures heal again. Save the Incineration for as late as possible, because once you cast it, the death count is reduced to 0 again. Which means you can't profit from it twice in a row without killing more creatures in between. Oh, and be sure to cackle maniacally, it increases the decks performance.
Cons:
Unfortunately, this deck can have a hard time with creatures that have over 40 MHP. And cards like Life Force and Torture can really mess you up. Also, people that have played this deck before are often wise to it's workings. They're more careful about which creatures to play and when. Thankfully, you can Bind them, Drain Magic them, etc, to keep them in check. Oh, and this deck can get RAPED against more than one opponent. People really like having their creatures on the board, go figure.
Hope you enjoy the deck, and I'd appreciate some feedback.
