Alright, TopCat. You and me, outside, now! (That is to say, I'd like to play you sometime this week, and hopefully glean as much knowledge from my beating as the others have..) Certainly. Just send a friend request when you get a chance and I can run you through a game or two and give some tips.

Okay, so that was pretty much the beating I expected... You even seemed to hold back at times so as not to push my misery further. =) Funny, I played TopCat last night and I had the same experience He gave me the beating of my life and taught me a LOT about the game in the process. I definitely recommend it. - Nick But it's all about the learning process, right? I have a feeling the online community that Culdcept Saga has right now is going to be half in a little while after they all stop calling it "Gay" in game and finally move on to whatever the next flavor of the month will be.

Couldn't agree more. I am really enjoying learning about this game. Playing TopCat was mind-opening in terms of less obvious but VERY powerful ways of playing the game. The only part I'm NOT enjoying right now is farming for cards, although that is going pretty quickly thanks to the techniques outlined in the forum. - Nick

If anyone wants to have a book building session and throw around ideas, concepts, etc. and play some matches to test 'em out, I'm game. Kuroi will be game once he gets the game. As a matter of fact he needs to get in gear so we can rock out the Leshy book and own the leaderboard.

I'm on duty in my apartment complex - translation: stuck at home - for 24 hours starting Friday 6pm (US East coast) I may be having company Friday evening, but if anyone wants to set up a game for Saturday morning-afternoon, drop me a friend request on xbl and respond here. If more than 1 person replies, we'll make it 3p!
I'm pretty nooby at the moment (in SAGA anyway), and still farming cards, but it'd be nice to have a human match to strategize for.

Hey, sideburns, great games on Friday evening. The one on one match was interesting, with the two of us running similar themes. I was just lucky enough to have mine executed first, I suppose. I thought you had me when you drew that crucial Crusher, destroying my Counter Amulet, but your unlucky roll on the following turn forced you to use your Vorpal Sword sooner than expected. Phew! The 2v2 match with notpokey was great, too, and I can't believe that you guys made. Damn Stymphalides!

I believe I was the fourth in that match, I was running the Stymphalides, Trap Spider, Wendigos, etc. I've only played 7 matches total so far, but it seems like players drop all the time! In fact, was playing an alliance match with a rl friend of mine, and he got dropped, but what happened is he ended up playing a different game with AI taking over for the rest of us, I won my game, he lost his lol.
Is it just us, or are disconnects really this rampant? I have to say it's had a pretty negative impact on my online experience so far, and I've played other games on Live pretty successfully in the past.

Ironically, you dropped from that match. Your team ended up winning, as described above. The AI version of you stepped on my level 4 Lizardman the turn after you disconnected, but it wasn't enough. I used Intrusion on my next turn in an attempt to dethrone the Stymphalides, but failed due to a miscalculation on my behalf. It was a good game, though! Edit: I wonder if it's actually your connection failing, as I have never had someone drop from a game. Does anyone know if the person that gets disconnected/timed-out also faces an AI opponent on their end? If so, this is what could be happening to you..

That is what's happening. On my end, you guys dropped out, and I went on to win, lol.
EDIT: Also ironically, in my game the AI used the intrusion and beat my Stymphalides lol, due to a miscalculation on my part.

That's really funny about the miscalculations. There was some parallel-universe action going on there.
Ben-Ra, you've been around this forum longer than I have - I remember your name from back in my medal-hunting days. And you were randomly my partner Friday but I had no idea who you were - you were just "that Johnny dude without a mic."
You were already disconnected at this point, but about 2 minutes after your bird took out that kelpie, I got a call from the cops about some party (I'm like an RA in my apt complex) so I had to apologize profusely to the other two guys and leave my xbox for my turns to auto-time-out, just when the game was turning around. And I came back 45 minutes later to see a victory! =)
Oh and highlight of the match was definitely when someone used Telekenesis to force me and Ben-Ra into an allied battle, with his trap spider attacking my sanctum guard, resulting in a dead trap-spider, and me gaining 5 symbols of the most valuable land in the game. (I still don't have a single Telekenesis!)
Hope we can hook up again soon.

Girlfriend's going out of town this weekend (Thu PM through Sun) - that means I'll be geeking out this weekend! send me a friend request if you we haven't played together yet. Look for me online particularly Thu night and Fri afternoon, or send a PM or AIM to set up a specific match time.
