often I've been attacked with a scroll and had a defensive item (usually red shield on a red creature) equipped. however the defensive item never activates and the scroll attacks. does the scroll attack before certain items activate or all?
whenever i've used a scroll they could equip stuff that activates, often a support creature
so I'm asking could someone clear up on the battle mechanics regarding using scrolls?

Scrolls attack the creatures hit points directly, without any regard to land bonuses, so using things like Gaseous Form, Counter Amulets and elemental shields are essentially meaningless as the scroll's attack goes directly to the creatures HP- This is what makes the Sorceror so valuable, as his normal attack is a 30DMG Scroll Attack, so any creature on the board with a base of 30MHP can be easily taken out by him, even on a level 5 land. The best way to defend yourself is to use items that neutralize or reflect scrolls (I.e- Rainbow Piece, Magus Mirror) or to bulk up your HP for the battle- (I.E- Mask of Mujina, Plate Armor).
