I don't get this card - from what I understand it gives first attack creatures +10 ST, but it seems to be random who it gives it to. What am I missing here?

All creatures who possess the First Attack ability will be given Quezacotl's boost- ally and foe alike.

While I do have a Quezlcoatl, I haven't yet been able to craft a deck good enough to use him, so I don't speak from personal experience. However, what I understand from reading his card and various discussions about him is that he gives +10 ST to any creature, foe or ally, that has the first attack ability printed on the card. He does not boost creatures who recieve this ability through other cards or effects like Wing, Hourglass, or Ring of the Vampire.

Gotcha - that makes sense - couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work with Ring of the Vampire.
I'm working on a "Vampire" deck consisting of first strike creatures, regeneration creatures/spells, items that give first strike, etc. I'll have to post it here when I get it working.

I have a first strike deck that works pretty well. It has Quetzlcoatl, Virus and that N creature that gives attackers -20 HP. I pretty much chain anywhere regardless of color since I don't really depend on my creature's HP to win a battle.
Also otterpop, your name just made me think of Poncho Punch and the Otterpop Gang. Thank you.

I crafted a Vampire/first strike deck this weekend - worked out pretty well but I need to make some teaks to it. The Queztlecoatl bonus works nicely.
