I finally received my membership to the 50 Medals Club.
The toughest, most gruelling and least fun of all was by far the 3 vs. 1 medal. This medal embodies everything that sucks about Culdcept. I love the game, but there are some parts that are just no fun and going for this medal brings out ALL OF THEM.
My last medal was, I'm sad to say, the Mechanical Duke. It was real easy to get. For those of you still starting, you should try to get this medal while you're doing any super long game. There are a couple of medals that require long games to get and if you add your battle gears to that deck and make an attempt to Bundle them when you get the chance, you'll easily get the Mechanical Duke.
I never went for it before, because I was trying to earn at least a second Battle Gear Beta. Four Alphas and one Beta. Go figure.
3 vs. 1 just sucks. You spend most of the game getting your butt royally kicked. When I won, it didn't even feel good. I was just glad to get it overwith. I wanted to chuck my PlayStation out the window, or at least shut the game off, so many times during that match....
I tried all kinds of different strategies. I tried winning with symbols. I tried winning with all spell cards and killing off my opponents monsters. I tried focusing on defense with defensive monsters and MHP boosting spells and protecting myself with Peace, Fog, and Blackout. I tried focusing on all one color and using monsters like Coati to kick ass and Mudman to rake in tolls.
In the end, I'm convinced there is only one way to get this medal: Willow/Kelpie. That's right. Cheese it.
For some reason, Willow/Kelpie turns the computer AI into a complete and total idiot. Mullyn could've invaded with a neighboring Grendal and any number of weapons, but instead spent half the game going in circles. Selena could've used Cerebus with Claymore, but luckily, had released all her greens earlier rendering Cerebus unusable.
Has anyone earned this medal without the Willow/Kelpie cheese? Did you do it with a strong strategy or did you just get lucky?
50 medals. I miss the challenge of trying to get them all, but I'm glad I never have to do 3 vs. 1 again.

My last medal was the Gooba Queen one. Yes, I had to do the Old Willow thing for the 3 vs one, but to make it more challenging, put Luthien or Gemmory in the mix. They both have binding mist and Luthien has those damn battering rams! Mechanical Duke was easy, just keep resetting your hand if you have low Battle Gears. Shoot I had 3 Sanctum guards out!! Long live mutation! (and yes, I know Kelpie doesn't worry about battering ram)

Just got my #50. It will surprise no one that it was Mechanical Duke. It wasn't as annoying as I was expecting either, considering I only had one alpha and two betas. (No one to four for me, unfortunately.)

I'm at 41 now so I don't officially belong in the club yet. I got the 3 on 1 medal on my second or third attempt. It seemed like an extremely difficult Medal to get but my luck that game was AMAZING. I was getting killed early but I took Disaster cards and two Banshees and before it got too out of control one of my Banshees destroyed every creature on the board except himself and the other Banshee I had down. From there, I picked up a couple built up lands and kept getting lucky with them landing on bad stuff.

oh p.s. Yes i had to use willow on the 3v1 if you didn't your the man. 3v1 is like the hardest medal. I got 2v1 (luckily i may add) on the first try. Pirate, you the man! I got 2 alpha 2 beta so i went for it early and it worked easily with the 2 card idol out. Sancuary with the symbols w/o sancuaries gave me the most trouble. Both the fill lands were easy but long, i used strats i found here so i give myself little credit. I also have to give credit for the backwalk/bind deck. I couldn't have done no creatures, no lands, w/o it! Kudos! I love this game and can't wait for the 360 version. I don't have a 360 and hate microsoft but my freind does and he's getting it. I wish we got culdcept 2! Beating up on mullyn got me the 20 invades and all level 1 in one shot using a red kill blue and old willow deck. what else? Oh, I got the cosmic mystery on dunnam verus goligan after restarting story mode. Like mullyun, he won't attack if you have good defense items. 4 droughts keep him from leveling up and 4 silence starts you off. Then i used collosus and t-rex's to kill anything that did land. After you have so many idols out he just gives up and keeps giving you money every turn. It wasn't like i read here, but it worked! read the mistakes section if you don't understand, but, make sure you have a gold idol, not a gold statue. Gold idol was the last creture card i got! Evil culdcept. Oh and another claim to fame. I have 47 medals and I still don't have a haste! The game hates me! It made the no creatures games hard. When I got the sancuary medal i only used 3-4 coins of peity at most. I went in circles around the bottom of level 2 (drunk), and leveled up yellow and red, w/ one old willow by the castle and lotsa centars. They didn't help but I still belive the idea is sound. Same start for death gazes, loop and kill adn waste time. Well i can't think of anything esle. PM me if you need advice. I'm not the guru's you have here, but i can help and thanks again for all the advise! 50 medals here i come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also happen to hate Microsoft, and my friend also happens to be getting Culdcept for 360 when it comes out. But he moved an hour north of where I live, and he has a child now (at age 19, silly man), so I doubt I'll be able to help much when that time rolls around. Lastly, Tiger Beetle was my last creature. Gold Idol is needed for a medal, but Tiger Beetle is something pretty crappy for a last creature. But, welcome (almost) to the top.

I just got medal number 50 a few minutes ago. It was scholar of creatures. I got it after beating Gemmory ( man I hate her ). Wow. No more medal hunting. Now I guess I can go outside again.

I just got the 50 medals last night. Gooba queen was the last one and I discovered something.
Exile doesnt work on gooba queen or leveler in my copy of the game. They both had peace spells cast on them but when I cast exile I couldnt select them, but at the same time a hornet with a peace spell on it could be selected. I was like WTF!!!

Well, I too have FINALLY joined this club! I feel very accomplished, even though it took me so long. My last medal was the Victor Among Victors medal, which took me by far a lot longer than all the others. (Though it's my own fault for playing at a leisurely pace, with a few month-long intervals of non-play.) Before I was never interested in playing with my boyfriend (the only other person I know who has played the game and enjoys it) because the matches would never count towards the medal. Now I can play with him all the time! (And keep him from getting near those medals in the process, I guess... hmm.)

what was your hardest medal to get?
Mine was the win in less then 20 turns medal. I cant tell you have many times I missed getting this medal because of repeated rolls of 1.
I think this game cheats sometimes.

I had lots of trouble with the 20 turns or less medal myself. I was quite upset, when I was missing something like 7 medals. My friend just picked up the game, and on his second battle ever (Zagol in the campaign), he won in 15 Rounds. I was furious, as I have been trying to get that medal for days before. I later found out that the easy way to get this medal is to restart the campaign and train with Goligan in Dunnan after the first mission. His book is basically the worst book possible, and I beat him in 15 rounds consistantly.
The 2 medals that upset me the most were Time Trampler (3 1's in a row) and the 100 battle one. The time trampler, which I think was actually my first level, can't be effected by anything but luck (or bad luck). If it's the last medal you are missing, then that would be extremely infuriating. The 100 battles medal just seemed too excessive for the game. most people seem to be waiting for that medal last after they have something 60 battles. Again, very infuriating.
I wanted to mention that I had some trouble with the Powder Eater killing a Dragon medal. The simple way, I thought, was to fight Nagaran until I was lucky enough to fight against her book with a Dragon in it. You also have the option of doing this with Zagol. Both of those books have annoying defensive cards like Counter Amulet. I'm not sure if this is how I got it, but I did eventually put Senility in that deck, so that probably helped.
