Does Trading Interfere with Medals?

I have read that there are medals you can only get after you have collected all creature cards, item cards, etc...

Well, if you trade with another player for cards that you don't have yet, does that count toward the medal? Or do you have to earn them through victory rewards only? I imagine you would get the medal no matter how you received the corresponding cards, but I was just hoping to confirm this.

There are medals for owning all creatures, items, and spells (excluding E cards) as well as special cards and adjoining CGI movies for owning all creatures of each color, and again for owning all of the cards.

I am fairly confident that you can trade cards to meet those criteria, but you won't reap the rewards until after the next match that you win. So if you trade and nothing happens, just push Goligan over at Dunnan and that should work.
