I wonder if any1 tried that besides me... It all started when i had the denier of spells medal, i said so y no items... then i got destroyer of artifacts medal. So i said y not NEITHER? I got these in 1 game they're not related but it was complete coincidence: Proof of knighthood Time Tramper (Tree Shaped medal) (1 more medal i don't remember) but no special medal for winning with ONLY creature cards... and then it struck me... could it be? YES IT CAN! There's that spell called Goblin's Lair! gives an Infinite supply of Goblins, so i got me that card, and packed myself with ALL the spells you can imagine, mostly like Camouflage and simulacrum and growthbody... more like Magic Bolt, EVERYTHING that gets manna especially soul hunt (damn useful) and Fountain (doesn't depend on luck if u use holywords and defend the spot from others with something like backwards). Don't forget Telegnosis and Foresight. U don't need items that much so spells shouldn't take less than 80%. You have no idea how demonic trade works well in that one, u think goblins are already placed? The spell didn't say creatures but goblins... so u basically earn G for every single Goblin place, and i had about 11 then So what kind of Medal do you get if you win without a creature card? NOTHING!!! I guess the bloody developers (bless them) never thought about any1 winning like that... <sigh> P.S. for full detail on the deck and strategy go to the Deck discussion section and read "Creatureless: Demonic Deck" (to be posted in 2 days)

I'm not too savy on all the metals, but I don't think you can have any creatures on the board. I got mine with a Permission deck. Just passed through the forts fast with cards like Holy Word X and Haste/Fly, then I'd use Permission and Chaos Panic to pass it even faster. I won in Dunnan against Zeneth (in story mode) after 12 or so laps. Mana spells are GOD. You can try that if you'd like, it worked for me.

Im so sorry you went through all that trouble for nothing, I think this was already discussed two or three times- you do get a medal for not utilizing creatures, but as ace said, you can't have any territorries- though it sounds a daunting task, its actually a lot of fun to play with an all spell deck. (Dont challenge Ryvern or Gemmory- Mine and Judgement can KILL)- I included lots of destruction cards, then Incineration, all the time lapping and using Manna, then watch as your opponent tries to build it all up again.
Sorry for the waste of time!

I tried two different strategies, one failed miserably- the other worked like a charm:
Challenge a single color player on Cratos 2- I chose Mullyn, because of her relatively docile personality.
I made a book of 50 Spells: Soltis, 4 Mannas, Permissions, Triumphs, Drain Magic, Holy Word X's- Cards that let you accrue money quickly.
The fun part of this deck were the 3 Fire Storms, 2 Insect Swarms and 1 Catastrophe: wiping out all of the creatures, then follow it with Incineration to net yourself the income.
I threw in Silences, Telekinises, Evil Blast, Torture to try and slow her down- I won this medal on the first try, 6170 to 100.

Thanks for the tips. I finally got this one. I used Dunnan and set condtions as low as possible, I have 4 Fire Stroms and they are what won the game for me (well three of them at least). At round 26 I stated casting Fire Storm (had two in hand), pulled a third and wiped out all Mullyn's creatures round 29, beat her at something like 450 to 3200 on round 30. Never pulled Incenerate.

I'm quite sure I got this with creatures on the board, since I didn't have the (very clever!) idea of using speed and mana-boosting spells to win instead. I was focused on somehow getting creatures, which I did with Goblin's Lair and Spartoi, then levelled those lands like crazy and tried to dump my opponents onto them. Finally managed to win, and I definitely had a number of creatures on the map.
I feel like a fool, by the way - I've been struggling to get medals entirely in story mode! Reading this forum, it's clear that at least some of them are really only practical in Versus, where you can choose both the map and the opponent.
Cheers, Dave

Hmmm..now thats really strange, because everytime I tried it with a Spartoi/Goblin's Lair Deck- I'd never get the medal, I wonder what the other variable is...Dave, did you say you tried this idea on Story Mode?

(Changed my user ID.) Yes, that's right. Another thing I've learned from this forum is to try for medals outside of Story mode - before that, I got them all in Story mode, which probably made it harder than necessary. But it's strange, I would have thought it wouldn't make any difference. Could there be a hidden Symbols requirement, like some of them seem to have (eg the two-on-one, that requires you to not use symbols)? I do hope I'm not misleading anyone, but my recollection certainly is that I did get it with Spartoi/Goblin.

How's things going fellas? I am on the last battle in the game, and I will admit winning the previous two was by luck. However, I did read this thread and wondered if I could beat a game with no creatures. Someone mentioned the Goblin Lair, and I tried it. I figured by best chance would be against the easiest person (and shortest fight) in the game, that being Selent at her castle in Mathesburg. I put 2 Goblin Lairs in my deck and took out all the creatures. I kept my Ice storms to blast when she put her reds out (Selena like the Christmas colors...red and green). I also used speed cards to get me around as fast as I could, you know, the Holy Word X (4 cards) and Fly (4 cards) and a few Holy word 6s. The first time I played her I lost but it was close, even though the computer had both of my Goblin Lairs near the back of my deck. I saw that it was indeed possible.
So I played again, making sure I kept some defense for my goblins if I could play the card earlier. I kept some reflect amulets and some prismatic wands. The second game was the charm and I did win and got the medal. I think I am up to 15 medals so far, and yes, you can win with no creatures since Goblin's Lair allows you to pop a goblin on the field, and goes right back to your hand.

I got it the first time on Cratos 2 vs. Salena. That map was designed to be played with symbols anyways. Salena doesn't tend to use very many dangerous cards so this was easy for me.
I poured all my money into symbols and bought all red and green, which is what Salena likes to use.
Of course I added in lots of mass kill like thunder storm and ice storm (red and green) and tempest. I also used meteor to knock down symbol prices (reduces territory levels does that) so they are more affordable. Salena tends to raise the territory back up anyways. So you make a profit, and make the board a tad safer in the meantime.
I set the victory condition to 30000, to ensure I had ample time to take a lead.
I used mana and triumph, and towards the late game my castle bonuses were around 2000... thanks to the 500+ fire symbols I bought up. I could easily avoid rent by simply dodging territory. It's easy on Cratos 2. This map is also good for the medal you get for not paying any rent the entire match.
I got the medal the first try in vs. mode. (used shine to seal the final victory) 30000 might be a bit high though, but I wanted to get it the first try.

I created a lap/gold making/ tempest spell card deck and fought marrock on cratos 2. I won without symbols too so I got both star of the ascetic and emperor of the desert medals on one game. It wasnt easy but it was doable.
I had to make sure and avoid marrock's lands like the plague, and when the match got near the end I cast tempest 3 turns in a row and cleared all the lands. Since I didnt own and lands my score wasnt hurt too bad and I hit the castle and won.
If you want to try it this way cards I recommend are
4 words of recall 4 permission 4 triumph 4 tempest 4 castarophy (i didnt use them but I can see them being helpful) 4 holy word x 4 holy word 6 4 peace (in case marrock gets a high level land) 4 banishing ray 1 soltis 1 energy flash (optional as its effectiveness depends on when you draw it) 4 silence 4 evil blasts
Ive won with this deck a few times now. its actually quite fun. 4 bind
