How do you get this medal? The lowest G victory limit I have found is 5000, so that means earning 250G every round AND reaching the castle before time runs out. I have no idea how to get this one...
I have 40 medals so far (with less than 1000 total cards), so I've been doing pretty good, but I'm totally stumped on this one.

Dunnan+Goligan+Kelpie/Old Willow placed by round 4 = medal.

I agree with the short map and the Old Willow. Originally I thought about trying the Kelpie, but my particular deck only has 2 Kelpies out of the hundreds of cards I have. I tried a few laps against the old cane and was getting about 25 average, but I knew I could get it lower.
I was using speed to get around the board, and 4 mana cards and any other cards that could get me a few extra coins. The trick, as has already been mentioned, is to get one of those cards that forces the old cane to stop, because he get some of the sweetest rolls (we call the jelly rolls).
My blue cards was ok, but not good enough barring lots of luck. But my red cards was different. I had 13 Old Willows, so I immediately dumped blue for red, putting 4 Old willows in the deck. Normally I keep a good amount of protection, but for the old cane, I didn't need too much, but enough to scare him off. If you notice, he does not attack unless he knows he can win. So if I get one or two defensive cards, he will not attack perhaps the entire fight.
Now, the key, at least to me, was getting the old willows down fast, but as you know, you have to get 2 red spots before you can plop the tree down. I was lucky to have an Old Willow at the starting hand, but had to work a bit to get two other creatures down on the reds. Once I got that, it was then a matter of saving cash so I can level up.
I'll be honest, I didn't think I would get it with my first red deck doing this, but at about round 16 or 17 the old cane landed on my tree, and paid up 691. That gave me the chance to maybe break this open before the 20th round.
With the extra cash, I leveled a Pyro Drake as well, because the jerk was using Slow to take his time. I had a holy word 0, and used it, but the jerk countered it by usind Slow on himself. But he landed on my 230 Pyro Drake.
By round 17 it was looking interesting, but would be tight. But I had 2 Fly cards, and needed to run. I was able to get around and in the process leveled up another red property. The old cane came around, and landed on the a recently taken blue property worth about 190 or so, and his next turn he landed on the Old Willow.
I had enough to win, but I had to get around the board, so I used one of my two Fly cards, to move, getting a 7. Round 19 came up and I was 7 spots from the castle. I had to get there or else I lose the medal. So I used the Fly card, hoping I would get a 7 or better.
I got an 8. End of story.
I got the medal, and the Lightcraft card, so now I have all but one card. I still have several medals to go, but I think I will eventually get them all...like Pokeman and Ash Catchum of the 100,000 badges (really, how many badges has this dude got anyway?)

I can barely remember all that happened, it was so long ago, but I recall at the start of the 19th round I was down by about 500 and my foe Goligan rolled a 2 and landed on my level 3 goblin and forked over 250 (I primarily used dirt cheap creatures, manna, and movement spells. I didn't think I'd have the time or quantity of cards to mess with Kelpies or Old Willows). Anyway, I was 6 squares away from the castle and naturally I rolled a 6 and got the medal at the absolute last moment.
I guess what I'm saying is good luck. That's the most important thing you'll need.

I had lots of trouble with this one when I first tried for it. Then I restarted the campaign, and went into a practice match with Goligan with my awesome books from after I beat the game. His book's best creature is a goblin, so it wasn't hard at all. I won in 15 rounds, and was really upset about the amount of times I spent on it the first time around.

Alot of my friends are having trouble with this medal and I felt guilty because I got it without realizing it playing Goligan; won in the 17th round leveling up a creature and Holy Wording Goligan to death; I dont know if anyone realizes but Goligan doesn't put up a fight if you have a Gaseous Form in your hand (and enough money to use it! He'll nail you if you are broke) I got Versus mode Goligan this way and won in Round 17.
