I got it on the map that looks like a huge tic tac toe grid (can't remember the name.) I placed the idols in areas that aren't well-travelled.

I got the Cosmis Mystery medal yesterday. It turns out you don't actually need to win the match, just get all the idols out on the board.

The first time I tried to win the Cosmic Mystery, one of the Idols was killed off but the rest were on the board and I lost, even though I won the game. The second time, I kept all Idols alive and won the medal (and the game). I used the Cratos 2 map against Selena because she doesn't Evil Blast or Magic Bolt.

When I won the Cosmic Mystery medal, I don't believe all the medals were on the board do to some defeat in battle or something. However, at one point, all were present. I played against Morroc in his lab and lost the match. Still, I was awarded the medal.

Hmmm...'cause I've tried the medal a few times and it was always hard keeping them alive. It seems that everytime I get them out one of them would just roll over and die to some spell or whatnot Maybe I didn't get them all out or something... (note to self: learn to count to 11 with 10 fingers)

Try playing on Cratos 2 (lots of real estate, easy to get them all out), and play against Luthien, as she will only invade if she will win. Put a lot of defensive items like gaseous forms in your deck, so she will never even try to kill them. She doesn't use damage spells either, so if you do this there should be no risk of your idols getting killed.

Thanks Thumpasaurus, I just got the medal playing on Cratos 2 against Mullyn. I was trying for the Mechanical Duke, Destroyer of the Land and Roar of the Butcher at the same time. Well, I had the spells in hand to pretty much wipe the board clean, but decided I'd rather not rish my Cosmic Mystery medal. So bye bye Roar of the Butcher. Then, it appears that with the Marble Idol out, doing the Mechanical Duke took too long (game was about to end because of round limit, so I just headed for the castle). Lastly, I had just one space left next to the Quake Beast before I could activate it's ability and lower the 4 lands when Mullyn suddenly decided she liked that little piece of water space afterall. Nothing I could do but wait for her to level it up...which she never did. So I lost my chance at Destroyer of the Land medal.
Could have been a quick game had I not tried to get so many medals at once...huge waste of time and boring since there were only a few battles. Also, is it just be or does the Cratos 2 map make your head spin from all the turns?

Congrats. I do find Cratos 2 to be a really annoying board, with all the turning you do, but it's also the board where I've earned the most medals. It allows you so much control over movement, and the best ability to avoid being attacked, that it is simply best for earning many of the medals (such as cosmic mystery).
Roar of the Butcher and Destroyer of Land aren't at all hard to get. Cratos 2 is again a good choice for these. For Butcher I put a bunch of powder eaters out and used the 20 damage to all wind creatures spell. For Destroyer, obviously you just need to get a "+" section with the beast in the middle (as I'm sure you know).
Mechanical Duke is a little harder, but not too bad if you've got at least a couple of each battle gear (I had 3 of each, so it was easy). I got this one against Luthien as she is so offense-adverse (no risk of her killing established gears), and uses such low quality items (easy to kill her monsters). Spells like Shatter and Binding Mist are helpful, as you can destroy defensive items, or bind monsters so they can't fight back (then just invade, form the gear and kill the enemy).

okay now i just beat selena, on the first board in versus mode. I won the battle and had all 11 idols on the board, no trophie. I recently reset story mode, does this have anything to do with not getting the medal? Some ppl say that you only have to get them all out, some say you need to finish with them all out, and most say you need to win the battle w/ them all out. I have managed all of these and nothing, i'm pretty preturbed! Can anyone help me, and does the story mode have anything to do w/ it?

I just got this - actually, it was a lot easier than I expected. The key to this one is to remember/realise that (SPOILER) Peace not only sets the toll for the afflicted creature's territory to 0, it also prevents any battles from occurring there (hence the name "Peace")...so once you put the idol down and cast Peace on it, you don't need any special protection. My deck was as follows:
1 of each Idol 3 Charon 2 Angostura 2 Dark Lord 2 Gargoyle 2 Gigantherium 1 Green Mold 1 Mudman 2 Trench Worm 2 Wall of Stone 4 Emerald Amulet 3 Emerald Shield 2 Death Cloud 1 Find 2 Ice Storm 3 Peace (all I had) 2 Rust 2 Shatter
I played against Zagol on Kratos II, with G goal set to 70,000 and round limit to infinity (I don't know why everyone doesn't do this with the round number - I've read so many posts here about how time ran out before they could accomplish the medal objectives!). The strategy for this deck is twofold: first, the lockdown, then the idol placement. I like basically all green because it allows me to use the amulets and shield without being stuck with mismatched colours (i.e., the amulet and shield will always be the right colour for the creatures who need them). Green Amulets are also good because, in addition to the Critical Hit that all amulets give, they also give First Strike, very handy against an opponent who constantly invades. Basically, all you have to do is lock down the Blue and Green territories, as well as the two 8-territory paths that include the tower to the north and the castle to the south (by "lock down" I mean either possess the territories with unbeatable creatures, or have Peace played on the enemy's colour-matched creatures - i.e., if Zagol plays a red creature on one of the red territories closest to the castle, play Peace on it - he won't ever swap it out for another creature, so you won't ever lose the Peace effect unless you actively dispell or replace it). This way, you'll have a clear path from castle to tower, without fear of landing on one of Zagol's 2245G-rent spots! (As you play, you'll note he does everything in his power to avoid landing on yours, and - because of the shape of the map - he's usually successful, especially if you have the Iron Idol (all die rolls = 4 - 6) out.) One thing to keep in mind is that, if Zagol attacks your Decoys or Charons and uses the Counter Amulet (and he will if you let him), he can easily take out your "unbeatable" creature. Always make sure to Rust or Shatter his Counter Amulets (the hit to your hand of the discard-a-card spells is relatively minor once you have the Brass Idol down) as soon as you can. If you have Charons out, make sure they're on blue, and level up as much as possible - the extra HP assist from the land will protect them from reflected-damage death (although why ALL damage isn't Converted I'll never understand - bug?)! Once you've done that, you can start laying down the idols (I wound up starting much earlier - first turn, in fact, but I had a way to protect it). Make sure you have a Peace in hand before casting one - on your next turn the first thing you'll do is cast Peace on it. Also, pay very close attention to the effects of the idols you play - for example, once you play the Granite Idol, you will not be able to cast Rust or Shatter on Zagol. And, once you get the Marble Idol down, you won't be able to put down any more kick-ass creatures (since they're probably already out). However, this can also work to your advantage: if Zagol has one of each creature out and never has to release land, and you get the Marble Idol out, he can never attack you - at that point, all his cards are useless! Finally, the only way I was able to win with this configuration was to buy a ton of Symbols. Because so many of your territories are Peaced, you never get much in the way of tolls (I think I got 2000 after 130 turns!). What I had to do was change all the blue territories to green to make the symbols as cheap as possible, then I bought about 600 in blue symbols, then started changing the Idol territories to blue and leveling them up. I must have added about 30,000 to my G total in symbols alone! Well, there you have it, one man's answer to the Cosmic Mystery medal. Hope it made sense and was helpful (by the way, I have to respond to the comment about getting four of each card that yes, the satisfaction in playing the game does wane when you can make any deck you want. Not terribly, because some of these medal conditions are REALLY hard, but definitely to some extent).
Notes on actual usage vs. planning of deck: The Find wound up being useless, since the first idol I put out was the Brass Idol (draw 2 cards each turn). The Ice Storm and Death Cloud wound up being useless because I had the "Cray" Idol out. I never used the Emerald Shield once. The Mudman wound up being useless once I replaced almost all my green creatures with Decoys and Charons. And the walls were useless in the second half, but were useful to get some momentum going due to their low casting cost. I almost never invaded or got invaded (I stuck to my side of the board, Zagol stuck to his), so the Emerald Amulets were also pretty useless.

I got this medal on I believe Cratos 1 (which ever cratos has 2 castles). I had 1-2 copies of each idol with Gaseous form, Holy grail, and statue item (makes creatures HP = 80)with some attack monsters like Gladiator, and a few others.
My opponent was The Alchemist Morroc. Morroc rarely invades so it was pretty easy, I won most of my medals against him. when you get the idol that prevents playing duplicate creatures out Morroc usually cant play anymore creatures so he could not invade if he wanted to. When I won the match I had all 11 out, though I from what I read it did not say anythign about winning the match, or even having them survive the match , just getting them all out at the same time sometime during the game.

I just got this medal this morning.
I played on the humongous board against zagol with the goal set at 50000. I figured that would give me enough time to get everything. I ended up setting up all 11 idols really quickly so I spent a lot of time trying to lose on purpose to end the stage faster.
I got the medal and all I did was for about 2 turns had all 11 on the board at once. I had none of them left when the match was over and I lost big time (losing on purpose turned out to be harder to do then getting the idols set)
