Does Culdcept Saga support 1080i? I went to the official x-box 360 Culdcept Saga site and it only listed 720p. Is there that much difference between the two anyway?

To be honest, with Culdcept, I don't think the slight difference you get from 720p and 1080i is going to be groundbreaking, if even noticeable, to the untrained eye. Many people say the same for VGA vs HDMI in several aspects. It all depends on how much of a tech junkie the person wants to be considered. I have an HD LCD 37" Widescreen 1080i TV and once you get to the high def stuff it all starts to look the same whether on my PS3 HDMI or my 360 VGA. Culdcept at 720p is very crisp and I appreciate it for all that's worth.
TC, you know more on TV's than I. Anyone? Feel free to correct me.

Since the box lists 720p that means that that is the resolution the game is natively created to run at. Any other resolution will utilize the 360's scalar to adjust the resolution.
Yes, it does support 1080i, but that's because the 360 supports that resolution with its HW scalar. In terms of aesthetic, you won't notice much of a difference as Culdcept uses few textures so it's sharp at either resolution.

I just have a quick question for those who have been playing the game for awhile now. I saw this image on IGN: xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/846/846290/culdcept-saga-20080117021523167.jpgIt shows the Quicksilver creature card, which is a blue card with a 60g territory ability that transforms the Quicksilver into a copy of the creature on the board with the highest MHP. My question is, what are the stats of the Quicksilver before you use its territory ability? In that image linked above it shows no data for ST/HP. Does that mean that you have to use the territory ability as soon as you place it? It doesn't say "immediate". Here's another creature with no ST/HP listed. xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/803/803806/culdcept-saga-20070711062610832.jpgHow does that work? I seem to remember ALL creatures in the PS2 game having those stats listed, regardless of their abilities.

Quicksilver is 20 ST/ 30 HP. Those pictures are most likely from the work in progress versions they had for translations. The Lightning Dragon is a 60 ST/ 50 HP creature itself. Hope that helps!
Oh, I didn't even realize they were both when you were drawing cards. Maybe it's second nature at this point and I know the ST/HP's, but they may not show when you're drawing them from your book. I can't remember - confirmation anyone?

It would have been nice to see the game support 1080p natively. One thing I don't understand is why 1080i is listed... if thats the case shouldn't 1080p also be listed? If you set your system to output 1080p the signal doesn't change if you play a 720p game - the 360 scales to 1080p just as it does 1080i - you know what I mean?

I can't remember - confirmation anyone? In JPN version you see all of the creature's information when the card is drawn. HP & ST appear in that space between the word "Creature" and the creature's listed cost. If those pics are from the final build I'd guess they might have removed the info because they couldn't fit all of the info in english on some of the cards. They certainly could list 1080p, for the same reason they list 1080i; since it's a supported res, just not natively. I can only guess that MS thinks the people who would question whether or not the game will run on their TV (the typical american family member, I'd suppose) is using component cables.

Should I play it in 1080i or 720p? Or does it even matter?
I got Kelpie after my second match! The computer is screwed!
I love this game!!!

Should I play it in 1080i or 720p? Or does it even matter? The easy answer is to always play at whatever the native resolution of your TV is. If it's 720p then you shouldn't play at any other res to avoid scaling. It's a bit more complicated if you have a 1080p set. Most likely the 360's scalar is better than your TV and you should set the 360 to output 1080p. If you are over component and your TV only supports 1080i over component, then it'll depend on the quality of the TV's interlacer. If you know it's good, go with 1080i. If it's not good, then go with 720p and just have the image scaled. Generally speaking, scaling is easier than deinterlacing, especially when the resolutions have the same aspect ratio, 16:9 in this case. Ultimately, the difference is usually too subtle to notice, especially on smaller TV sizes, so just choose whichever you think looks better. When I was using 1080i I thouight text was a bit sharper than scaled 720p, and I noticed no deinterlacing artifacts so I stuck with that res. Congrats on the Kelpie, by the way.
