This is to see how everyone feels on posting videos. Topcat and I have been playing Culdcept quite a lot lately and he was going to start capping some of the matches he or I play in. I was just curious how many people would actually be interested in watching these videos to see how the new game plays or what online play is all about. If "Tank" or xcepter don't mind, we could also post videos when we get more games going with them.

I would enjoy seeing these videos. I think it would be cool to see other players strategies in action. This would give us a good idea of how online matches work.

Here are replays of several online matches I've had over the past week. I apologize but the quality is horrendous since I used a crappy capture card and encoded them hastily. I think I'll have to re-encode and re-upload, but I thought I'd post what's currently up for now in case anyone was still interested. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2966598118334976353&hl=enThis match was a real nailbiter. I started out horribly (as I always do) with a bad draw but was able to regain my footing towards mid-game. From then on it was a a back-and-forth battle and I got really lucky at the end. m(_ _)m video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3828329248442999000&hl=enI used my other main book in this one. I started out quite poorly again, but eventually I get back into the running. I don't quite manage to pull it off in this game. I definitely bow to my opponents in this match as the all-around play was good. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1432457623284162989&hl=enAnother great match, I thought. It was neck and neck until the end and I didn't know who was going to win. The others used some really neat books; it's long but it's a good example of how good the game is. To everyone I faced in those matches: 有り難うございました m(_ _)m

I'd also like to point out that some of our decks may seem a bit different than what people are use to seeing. Maybe even a completely differnet play style at times.
Thanks for posting those up for now. I'm definitely going to get you to put some of mine up as well when the chance presents itself. The quality isn't terrible, it's just a tad dark.

It must be a CRT thing 'cuz the brightness is perfect at home on my TV. At work it was super dark until I jacked the brightness all the way up.

You are correct. The brightness of my monitor at work is terrible low. I set it higher and I can now see. It is a tad grainy as you said, but not unwatchable.

Watching of the vids I've noticed that the replay eliminates things. Going to the player screen to look up info seems to be removed. It also has removed quick button presses and hesitation pauses where the players were contemplating what to do while looking over creatures on the map and such. That all happens a lot which is probably why the replay time is shorter than the actual game time the save file reports. Oh, and as a note the first replay glitches at the end and gets stuck/frozen at round 52. Nothing it missed, though, since the match lasts 54 rounds and no turnabouts happens in the last two rounds.

Thanks for these. I had never seen a full game of Saga that wasn't a bug report of some sort before these videos.
Does anyone play the new Sealed Deck mode online? If so, it would be cool to see a replay of one of those matches.

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't seen anyone play sealed decks online, but there are rankings in it so I guess it's common when I'm not around actively searching for games. Never played one myself, either. I still have yet to play a 2v2 game. Shame because I have lots of team deck ideas I want to try.
Maybe I'll be able to cap a match or two sometime during the next week. Ones with much better quality. ^_-

Here's a match Kuroi and I had online about a week ago. It was pretty close and we thought it showed off a lot of key strats we've seen online. Good Match 26m30s

Hey, TopCat, thanks for posting that last match - it was a good one.
Quick question, though: does Borgess now add the +20 HP bonus to himself?

No, they still handle Aid the way they did in Culdcept 2, ie, no creature can aid itself in battle. There must've been a second one out if he got the +20HP bonus. I just want to point out that Borgess is super annoying when he isn't helping out my creatures.

I've just had some time to watch a couple of these videos and I'm really impressed. The strategy does seem a little more open, in that you can pull off similar ideas using very different sets of cards. Really looking forward to playing online.
I did want to ask about your Land Transfer strategy in these vids TopCat. Seems like a clever and original way to bank magic, and obviously makes it very tough for opponents to snatch high-value land.
Could you elaborate on some of the strengths and drawbacks?

Let me point you to this thread. Adam has (will) post up his version of the Land Transfer deck there and I'll post up my version and give my thoughts about it.
