well its pretty straightforward but, sometimes when i see it used, the defense creature is not affected, why is that? Im assuming defense creature either means on land or is being hit by it

I'm pretty sure death is 100% against defense creatures with the Battering Ram. I think you may be having one of two problems: -It must be used against an actual "Defense" creature, as in the type that is restricted against being used on offense or moving (i.e. Wall of Ice). It does not work on any old creature that just happens to be on the defensive side of the battle (if it did, this would be a ridiculously over-powered item). -The other problem you might be having is due to damage neutralization. If you don't score damage, "bonus attacks" (such as death to defense creatures with the battering ram) will not take effect. For example, if your opponent uses a Gaseous Form, death will not result. Hope this helps!

Yes. The creature card will actually list it as a 'Defense' creature for the Battering Ram to works its magic.
You can confirm that it is a Defense-type creature too by attempting to move that creature to another land. Defense creatures are planted and cannot move once placed (unless replaced by a new creature). yada yada

Well...how would you move your opponents creature to confirm? The easiest way to tell if the creature is a defense creature (other than general familiarity with the cards) is to simply move the arrow onto the target creature and read its description. I'm pretty positive all the defensive creatures are labelled as such- the only erroneous one I can think of off the top of my head is that it lists the Kelpie as a defense creature, but that the Kelpie can actually be summoned as an attacker.

Well...how would you move your opponents creature to confirm? Well ramble on WhoseYerLilith. It was a semi-joke. If you CAN'T move it, then it's a defensive creature. But thanks for your tips.
