I kept a log of each creature deleted by my Death gazes during the course of the battle, and when I finally won, I had deleted 13 creatures total, yet did not get the Medal.
I believe it is because I did not realize that Lightcraft would "undelete" the cards and set the deck back to the full 50.
*grumble*

This medal took me quite a while to get - I finally picked it up last night after about a 4 hour battle. I did a versus map at Dombwood against Zagol, magic for win set to 22,000. I finally managed to rack up 10 exiles, and, trying to get my 11th, failed 4 times in a row. 4 "not affected" in a row at 80% chance to exile! Grrr..
Anyway, Dombwood is good because you can keep looping around the little south chain if you're in danger of winning before you get all of your exiles.

I chose Dombwood as well for the same reason, I deleted 19 cards for good. Phizzat.

How do you trigger the Death Gaze's effect? I had three of them defeated and there was no card deletion... Was I just really unlucky? I don't recall seeing the not affected message either. I figured it might be something besides just having them defeated in battle since it says destroyed in battle? Do they have to attack and be destroyed to trigger it?

OK just found the older topic on this Medal and I now know what my problem was. Death Gaze has to be the one to destroy the opponent's card, not get destroyed. Wow, I've been reading that wrong for a long time.

i just got this medal. it was my 45th ;D
i did it pretty easily against zagol on Dunnan with a 20,000 G limit (though i had 11 successful "gazes" before reaching 10,000 G) I was also lucky in that zagol used his wussy deck. no counter amulets or gremlin amulets to worry about. there weren't even any neutralization or first strike items in his deck. it was easy as pie. i'd REALLY reccomend just restarting the ps2 if you start this match and he's got his beefy deck. the wussy deck just makes this a breeze.
i'll update this with more details on the deck i used shortly.

After about a 6 month absence from this game, I came back today and tried for this medal and got it. From reading this post though I feel that I did it the hard way.
I played against Morroc on Cratos 2. My rationale was that his neutral creatures wouldn't be able to defend themselves well (especially from Prismatic Wand) and I would be able to land on the creature I wanted due to the myraid intersections. Unfortunately, Morroc used a deck I didn't recall seeing before. In addition to Decoys, Steam Gears and Chameleons, he had Cait Siths, Peris, Blynxs, Grimalkins, and Pegasi, which are all protected from being cursed (Magic Bolt, Archers, Disease, Telekinesis) and many are immune to attacks from 40 ST or higher (Death Gaze = 50 ST). Fortunately my 3 Death Gazes came equipped with 3 Tearing Halo scrolls (take that Cait Sith), 3 Masamunes (take that Steam Gears), 3 Prismatic Wands (take that Pegasi and Ninjas with First Attack and Nuclear Fusion Scrolls) and 3 Earth Shields for nearly impenetrable defense. Morroc had some Petrify Stones and Gaseous Forms but my Shatters and Book Worm took care of most of those.
Oh, and as for his Decoys. I decided to bring along a Virus. Not only was the universal -10HP useful for softening up the other targets, but the Decoys keeled over at the beginning of each battle with a Death Gaze and were still exiled, even though I didn't actually throw a punch. I used to say that the Sorceror was the ultimate anti-Decoy creature, but it's all the Virus now. Spread the word.
After I racked up 13 banishments (out of 14 tries), the hardest part was just finishing the level. I set the mark way too high, Morroc never landed on my good lands (Why did I forget to bring Kelpie?), and he kept breaking my chains with Quintessance. I finally managed to outlast him but it was quite an effort.
So now I only have 7 more medals to go and I'm a little out of practice. It still feels good to be back playing Culdcept, though.
